Costs rising during recession
By Byron McNutt

THE GREAT Recession has touched nearly all Americans in some way. We see and feel the effects every day. It started with the Housing Bubble crash and the ramifications have filtered through the economy. For most of us, our incomes have not kept up, we’ve not had adequate pay increases, we’ve lost jobs, had work hours reduced, taken pay cuts and had to explain to our families how this could happen in a great country like the United States. Two weeks ago, the Federal Reserve reported that in 2010 median family net worth was no more than it was in 1992, after adjusting for inflation. The figure declined from $126,400 in 2007 to $77,300 in 2010.
