Summer to fall
By Mary Friedel-Hunt

The last month of summer! I, for one, will be glad to see this summer come to an end if — I repeat, if — the fall weather is what most of us are used to: sunny, cool, crisp days filled with blue skies and, yes, some rain now and then.
This drought and the extreme temperatures have worn people down. The corn is a mess, gardens are a mess, and we are all tired of the heat. If we look at the temperatures, summer started in March this year and is never ending. I know I am not alone as I long for the cool and crisp days of autumn — if we get them.
