|Patterns to change as water temps drop|
By George LangleySome more hints of fall, including cooler nights, have resulted in water temperatures dropping into the low 70s on many lakes.
This has taken the stress off the lakes prone to high-temperature fish kills. The fish have reacted to this drop in temperatures also, but this is not always good at first.
In addition, weeds have started to die off in many shallow areas on North Woods lakes. If you look around when you are driving locally, you’ll see some starts of color on some of the trees and road ferns are getting brown. Fall is near.
