The recent Picnic in the Park, sponsored by the Northwoods Living Care Foundation (NLCF) for the benefit of the Phelps Volunteer Ambulance Service, was billed by organizers as another success.
“We do not have all the accounting completed, but it appears we generated more than $5,500 for the ambulance services and our EMTs (emergency medical technicians),” said Cathy Grady, president of the NLCF. “The rain held off for us and we had the good fortune to serve delicious food to 485 adults and 53 children.”
The net proceeds from the Aug. 14 event now puts the total raised in 15 years to approximately $142,000. During this 15-year span, the NLCF has been able to donate a total of $95,780 toward the purchase of new ambulances in 2002 and 2010.
