Trolling proposal OK’d in statewide vote

People who participated in the 2014 Spring Fish and Wildlife Hearings and Wisconsin Conservation Congress county meetings across the state Monday supported a proposal to allow trolling statewide.

The compromise trolling proposal — which would allow trolling with one line per angler in 17 counties and trolling with three lines per angler in the other 55 counties — was approved 3,646-2,250.

Statewide, the proposal was approved in 61 counties and rejected in 11 counties.

Vilas residents vote at fish, wildlife hearing

Vilas County residents voted Monday night to advise the Department of Natural Resources on numerous topics at the annual spring fish and wildlife hearing at St. Germain Elementary School.

A?proposal to increase the size of the trophy bass regulation from 18 inches to 20 inches was passed by a six-vote margin, 87-81.

Among the questions were a number regarding panfish management.
