Three Lakes advances five track athletes to Sectional

Five members of the Bluejays track team will advance to WIAA?Sectional competition after participating in the Regional event last Tuesday in Suring.

With only the top four athletes in each event moving on, the Bluejays advanced five athletes in five events into Friday’s WIAA?Sectional meet in Marathon.

Other teams in attendance at the Regional were Coleman, Crivitz, Gillett, Lena/St. Thomas Academy, Menominee Indian, Wabeno, Wolf River Lutheran and the host school, Suring.

Hodag Run for Your Life set June 28 in Rhinelander

The YMCA?of the Northwoods will hold its eighth annual Run for Your Life five-kilometer (5K) and 10-kilometer (10K) Saturday, June 28, on the streets of Rhinelander.

Presented by Superior Diesel and Habush Habush & Rottier Charitable Fund, the race will begin at 9 a.m. at Stevensport Square in downtown Rhinelander and will conclude at the same location.

All preregistered participants will receive an official Hodag Run dri-wick shirt, and awards will be given to the top three male and female runners in each age bracket.

Ladies golf league to start June 10

The 19th Hole Puttettes, a women’s social golf league, will meet Tuesdays at 2 p.m. at the 19th Hole golf course in St. Germain. The first league event will take place June 10.

All women interested in golfing are welcome to attend.

Following golf, there will be a social gathering at the on-site restaurant. For more information, call Loretta at (715) 542-3510.

Four of six feature races see repeat winners at speedway

Four of the six feature winners from the season opener the previous week came back to win their features again this past Friday night at Eagle River Speedway.

One of the closest races of the night took place in the Pure Stock feature.

Eagles lose final three in GNC

The Northland Pines baseball team lost to Tomahawk 7-3 in a Great Northern Conference (GNC) baseball game last Tuesday.

Pines also lost both games in a GNC doubleheader with Antigo Friday, losing 10-0 and 13-2.

Pines boys win Tomahawk Invite; Ozelie, Puffer lead Eagles in victory

The Northland Pines High School boys track team recently won the Tomahawk Invitational for the second time in three years.

The Eagles grabbed 154 points at the event, followed by Hurley with 111.5, Tomahawk with 108, Rhinelander with 88, Phillips with 76.5, Ladysmith with 50, Three Lakes with 49 and Mercer with 34.
