Conservatives express views
By Cal Thomas

OXON HILL, Md. — The first “people” I recognized on arriving at last week’s Conservative Political Action Committee gathering just outside Washington were two “stormtroopers” and a Wookiee from the 1977 film “Star Wars.”

Some of the speeches also expressed sentiments from the past, though not as cleverly as those in costume: Obama is a bad president, even a bad man. America looks weak before the world. Government is too big and taxes too high. “The Force” seemed to have left the building, or perhaps it never arrived.

Perhaps the most interesting speaker was the outgoing governor of Texas,

GOP needs winning formula

KATHLEEN WILLEY is back. For people who have forgotten, she is the former volunteer aide to President Bill Clinton who claims he sexually harassed her 20 years ago. She wrote a book about it called “Target: Caught in the Crosshairs of Bill and Hillary Clinton.”

Conservatives asked to leave?
By Cal Thomas

EVERYONE “KNOWS” it is conservatives who are mean-spirited, intolerant, censors of speech with which they don’t agree, anti-gay, anti-black and anti just about everything else, right? We know this because the left keeps telling us so.

Which is why in this era of increasingly corrosive language — note the overuse of the f-word in the film “The Wolf of Wall Street” — and acidic political discourse, recent comments by Gov. Andrew Cuomo, D-N.Y., ought to shock and outrage everyone, regardless of party affiliation or ideology.

In a radio interview on WCNY, Cuomo commented on the battle

Ideology vs. reality
By Cal Thomas

FRENCH PRESIDENT Francois Hollande has been confronted by the glaring light of reality — sort of.

On New Year’s Day, as his massive tax increases began taking effect, Hollande, a member of the Socialist Party, admitted that taxes in France have become “too heavy, much too heavy.”

Indeed, as of Jan. 1, French households now must contend with a new value added tax on many goods and services and, writes International Business Times, “French companies will be required to pay 50% tax on all employee salaries in excess of 1 million euros .?.?. The effective tax rate will amount to 75%.” Unemployment,
