Music boosters to meet March 10

The regular monthly meeting of the Northland Pines Music Boosters will be held Thursday, March 10, at 6 p.m. in the band room at Northland Pines High School  in Eagle River.
All parents and community members who wish to promote the music programs at Northland Pines schools are welcome to attend.
The meeting will focus on planning two major upcoming events — the pancake breakfast fundraiser

Pines band holding fundraiser

Band students at Northland Pines High School are holding a fundraiser now featuring Joe Corbi-brand food products. The sale will continue until Thursday, March 24, and products may be ordered from any band student or by contacting director of bands Brandon Bautz. 
Funds raised will help band students travel to Orlando, Fla., next year. The band members will perform  at Downtown Disney and participate in a clinic session with Disney conductors.

Breakfast to help band students

The Northland Pines Music Boosters will hold a pancake breakfast Sunday, March 13, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the commons at the Northland Pines Middle School in Eagle River.
The menu will include all-you-can-eat regular and chocolate-chip pancakes, sausage, applesauce, orange juice, milk and coffee.
The funds raised from the event will allow band students at both the middle school and high school

Pines students participate in band festival
Two Northland Pines High School band students recently attended the Tri-State Honors Festival at UW-Platteville. Northland Pines High School band students Josh Karlovich and Alex Krupka recently attended the two-day Tri-State Honors Festival hosted by UW-Platteville.
The event was organized by Dr. Barry Ellis and the guest conductor/clinician was Samuel Hazo.
Hazo is the first composer in history to win two National Band Association composition contests. His original compositions include performances with actors Brooke Shields, James Earl Jones,

Nicolet's Academic Success program offers assistance to returning students

Nicolet Area Technical College’s Academic Success program offers students an opportunity to work with instructors to brush up on reading, writing and math skills to prepare for college classes.
Many who have lost their jobs start the search for a new job or enroll in college to improve their skills to get a even better job than what they had before.

Nicolet announces theater events

Nicolet Area Technical College has released a schedule of its upcoming events to be held in the Nicolet College Theatre, located on the Rhinelander campus:
• Jazz Cabaret with Desiree Wattelet will be Saturday, March 5, at 7:30 p.m.
Refreshments will be served. Concert tickets are $15.
• Auditions for “The Trip to Bountiful” will be held Monday and Tuesday, March 7 and 8, at 7 p.m.

Three Lakes Elementary School has announced the winner of the 2010-’11 spelling bee. Sixth-grader Adler Orr took first place and the runner-up is fifth-grader Eli Ribbe. Orr will compete in the regional competition, while Ribbe will serve as an alternate.  --Contributed Photo

Community classes planned at Three Lakes High School

As part of the school district’s goal to develop strong school-community relations and to promote adult continuing education, Three Lakes School will offer a series of one- to three-day classes open to the community.
During the 2011 winter semester of the Three Lakes Learning Center, students and the community are welcome to attend any and all classes, which will be held at the Three Lakes School.

Three Lakes High School announces honor roll pupils

The following students have met the criteria and are eligible for the honor roll. Three Lakes recognizes its students on a quarterly basis for their academic achievements.
Three Lakes School has many students who may meet the grade requirements for honor roll, however, may not meet the class load requirements as a full-time student or may be a Youth Options student. Therefore, Youth Options students are excluded from this recognition.
