Regional spelling bee winner to advance to state competition

The Northland Pines School District hosted the Cooperative Educational Service Agency 9 Region 2 Spelling Bee Feb. 8 at Northland Pines Middle School in Eagle River.

Nicolet to accept scholarship applications

The Nicolet College Foundation will distribute more than $184,000 to full- and part-time students who will attend Nicolet Area Technical College for the 2011-’12 school year.
The scholarships will be available for both incoming and continuing students enrolled at the college next fall. The scholarship funds will be applied directly to tuition costs.
To be considered, students must turn in a completed application, a copy of their academic transcript

Pines to present musical comedy

Northland Pines High School (NPHS) will present the Western musical comedy “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” in performances scheduled at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, and Saturday, Feb. 12; and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13.
Directed by NPHS choral director Kate Janssen with assistance from student director Zac Tienhaara, this is the second annual musical play at NPHS.

Richie, Northern Access Team to participate in Polar Plunge

Mike Richie, district administrator for the Northland Pines School District, will participate in the Toss the Boss event of  the 13th annual Special Olympics Polar Plunge Friday, Feb. 25, at Sunny Vale Man Made Lake in Wausau.
Staff, students, community members and businesses of the Northland Pines School District community may contribute pledges to Richie for a special cause.
