Kindergarten registration meeting set for Jan. 26

The Three Lakes School District will have an informational meeting about kindergarten registration for parents with 4- and 5-year-old children Wednesday, Jan. 26, from 5:30 to 6 p.m.
The meeting will be for parents of children who will turn 4 or 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2011. The meetings will be in Rooms 108 and 110 at Three Lakes Elementary School.
Parents can fill out the registration papers prior to the meeting starting at 3:30 p.m. in the office.

Preschool screening planned Feb. 4

The Three Lakes School District is looking for parents with 3- and 4-year-old children to participate in its annual preschool screening Friday, Feb. 4, at Three Lakes Elementary School.
This is an opportunity for people to see how their children grow and develop compared to age-group benchmarks for all children.
At the end of the screening, an interviewer will be on hand to discuss any questions or concerns

Northland Pines Middle School art students recently received two first-place, three second-place and two third-place awards in the 2011 Wisconsin Federal Junior Duck Stamp calendar.
Under the direction of art teacher Bev Niehaus, Noah Weber, 12, of Sayner, received first place for the month of February for his redhead duck. Allison Sauvola, 12, of Eagle River, won first place for the month of November for her greenwing teal.

Nicolet program helps earn degree

The Nicolet Area Technical College University Transfer Liberal Arts program has served as a launching pad for thousands of North Woods students who have set their sights on earning a bachelor’s degree.
Under the program, students complete the first two years of the four-year degree needed to pursue their career at Nicolet.
