Angel Golf Spectacular already booking teams

While there is still snow on the ground, teams are being urged to register for the 15th annual Angel Golf Spectacular, a fundraising event for the Angel On My Shoulder program, set for Friday, June 10, at St. Germain Golf Club with three special guests.
The golf tournament will be a scramble format with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m., with celebrity guests including former Green Bay Packers Gilbert Brown, William Henderson and another former player to be announced, according to Lolly Rose, founder of Angel On My Shoulder.

Now is perfect time to train for Journeys

With the warmer temperatures predicted this week, it’s time for runners to get outside and begin training for the 15th annual Journeys Marathon set for Saturday, May 14, in Eagle River.
Registration brochures are available and now is the perfect time to be training and signing up to participate, according to Eagle River Area Chamber of Commerce events coordinator Kim Emerson. Presently, more than 250 runners are entered.

Gigantic co-op teams still ruling girls hockey

It was the same old story at last weekend’s Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) Girls Hockey State Championships at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison as large co-op teams dominated the field.

Pines Hall of Fame seeking nominations

The Eagle River/Northland Pines High School Athletic Hall of Fame is seeking nominations for future inductees, the committee has announced.
The Hall of Fame, established in 2003, recognizes persons who have contributed or excelled in high school, college and/or professional sports and includes athletes, coaches and other citizens of the Northland Pines School District who have contributed to the sports program.

Strauss nominated for Concannon Award

Former Northland Pines High School hockey player Charlie Strauss is having an outstanding season as a member of the Middlebury College, Vt., hockey team and is receiving recognition for his play.
Strauss has been nominated for the 11th Joe Concannon Award, presented annually to the best American-born college hockey player in New England playing at the Division II/III level.

Two storied franchises to clash in Super Bowl

With a new 42-inch digital television in the rec room at the Ridderbusch house, excitement is building for the Super Bowl this Sunday.

Packers Super Bowl run means new TV in house

Little did I know that a simple statement way back in October would hit my credit card for more than $500. That’s when I told my two teenage kids that we would get a new 46-inch flat-screen, digital television for our rec room if the Green Bay Packers made it to the Super Bowl this season.
