Allen E. Riley of St. Germain and formerly of Greenfield died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013. He was 91.

Mr. Riley was born March 4, 1922, in Milwaukee, the son of Harold and Anna (née Diekow) Riley.

He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Delmalee ‘Lee’ Rizzo

Delmalee “Lee” Rizzo  of Plum Lake died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, at the Seasons of Life Hospice House in Woodruff.  She was 85.

Mrs. Rizzo was born Oct. 24, 1927, in Missouri.

She owned and operated the Silver Musky Resort on Star Lake for 45 years.

Betty Ann Smith

Betty Ann Smith of Rhinelander, formerly of Eagle River, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at Grace Lodge Assisted Living in Rhine­l­­ander. She was 92.

Mrs. Smith was born in 1921 in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of John and Ethel (née Wetzel) Wachter.

She attended UW-Madison. In 1948 she married Herman Smith and moved to Eagle River.

She was honored as the Woman of the Year

Roy Albert Sobolik

Roy Albert Sobolik of Eagle River, Wis., passed away peacefully on Oct. 10, 2013, at the age of 92.

Roy was born Oct. 2, 1921, to Albert and Mae Sobolik in Chicago, Ill.

He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.

Carlton James ‘Jim’ Stedjee

RAPID CITY — Carl­­ton James “Jim” Stedjee, 78, passed away at Rapid City Regional Hospital on Oct. 17, 2013 after a two-year battle with leukemia.

Jim was born in Three Lakes, Wis., on Jan. 30, 1935, to Lewis J. and Mary M. Budney Stedjee.

He graduated from Three Lakes High School in May of 1953. He enlisted in the Air Force that December.

Glenn C. Young

Glenn C. Young of Three Lakes, Wis, passed away peacefully on Oct. 13, 2013, surrounded by loving family.

He was born Dec. 22, 1929, in Woodstock, Ill., the youngest of seven children.

He excelled in many sports and continued his love of football at Purdue University, in the U.S. Navy and with the Green Bay Packers and Calgary Stampeders.

He was proud to serve in the U.S. Navy

Joyce Dorothy (née Sowlles) Anderson died May 21, 2013. She was 86.

Mrs. Anderson was born Oct. 29, 1926, in Milwaukee.

Dorothy Cole Casey, a former resident of Eagle River, died Oct. 3, 2013, in Mesa, Ariz. She was 97.

She was born Oct. 7, 1915, in Plymouth, the daughter of Edwin and Martha Larson.

Mrs. Casey resided with her first husband of 54 years, Eugene H. Cole, in Oshkosh where she was executive director of the American Red Cross Oshkosh Chapter.

She frequently vacationed with her husband and three children

Dorothy Yaeger Curran

Dorothy Yaeger Curran of Three Lakes was born in Ma­di­son, Wis., on July 6, 1929, and died on Oct. 8, 2013.

Dorothy attended Edgewood College and graduated from UW-Madison with a degree in Speech Pathology, and taught in parochial and public schools in Wisconsin.

After moving to Arlington Heights, Ill., she worked as a speech therapist, youth minister and Eucharistic minister in her parish, Our Lady of the Wayside.

Dorothy married Robert Emmett Curran in 1959.
