Erwin C. “Bud” Rappold of Eagle River died Oct. 1, 2013, at his home. He was 88.

Mr. Rappold was born May 30, 1925, in Janesville to Charles and Florence Rappold.

He graduated from Janesville High School in 1943, and served in the Air Force during World War II as a bombardier.

He married Evora J. Johnston Oct. 24, 1953, in Janesville.

Muriel E. Leu

Muriel E. Leu “Mur,” 88, formerly of Conover, Wis., passed away Sept. 28, 2013, at her home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born in Chicago on Aug. 11, 1925, she and her husband, Art, purchased a home on Stormy Lake in 1973, and became permanent residents from 1983 through 1989.

An avid community supporter, she was a charter member of the Stormy Lake Homeowners Association and had served as its secretary.

A volunteer at Eagle River Memorial Hospital

Douglas R. McConnell

Douglas R. McConnell of Walworth died on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, after a lingering illness.

Doug was born on Aug. 27, 1964, in Darlington, Wis., to Merlyn and Dixie McConnell. The family relocated from Darlington to Eagle River, Wis., in 1978.

Doug graduated from Northland Pines High School in 1983, and attended UW-Madison before returning to Eagle River.

Doug married Maryanne Kirby of Three Lakes in November of 1985.

Jacob John Searles

Jacob John Searles, age 46, of Rhinelander, Wis., passed away peacefully early Friday, Sept. 27, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, of a stroke, surrounded by his family.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Edwards. The Rev. Daniel Bohn will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.

John ‘Jack’ Armstrong

John “Jack” Armstrong of Eagle River died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at Seasons of Life Hospice House in Woodruff. He was 90.

Mr. Armstrong was born Oct. 5, 1922, in Eagle River, the son of Charles and Pearl (née Dyer) Armstrong.

He was raised and attended schools in Eagle River, and graduated from Eagle River High School in 1940.

Laura “LaLa” Berg, age 62, of Three Lakes, Wis., passed away Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at St. Clare Hospital.

Laura was born Aug. 9, 1951, to Lawrence and Bertie-Leigh Berg. She was a resident of Three Lakes for 45 years.

Laura worked in the food and service industry, mostly known from Harry’s Tavern and Modern Aire in Three Lakes.

Rachel K. Brown, of Wau­sau, Wis., died on Sept. 20, 2013, at Lili Assisted Living. She was 91.

Born in Butterfield, Minn., on June 10, 1922, to the late Reinhold and Mary (Rempel) Kintzi. Her family moved to Mountain Lake, Minn., where she attended grade school and high school.

Rachel attended the University of Minnesota, where she earned a bachelor of science degree in Public Health Nursing.
