Robert V. Jankovich

Robert V. Jankovich of Sayner, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff. He was 75.

Mr. Jan­ko­vich was born July 2, 1937, in Kenosha, the son of Ivan and Margaret Jankovich.

He attended the UW-Extension located in Ken­osha, as well as the University of Illinois-Lasalle Extension.

Jacqueline E. Robbins

Jacqueline E. Robbins of Humboldt, Mich., died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at Mather Nursing Center and U.P.?Home Health and Hospice. She was 59.

Mrs. Robbins was born Sept. 19, 1953, in Tomahawk, the daughter of Ross and Margaret (née Ledyard) Oxley. She graduated from Phelps High School.

Richard “Dick” Schiltz of Land O’?Lakes died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012. He was 85.

Mr. Schiltz is survived by his wife, Margaret.

Loretta Santiago Letriz

Loretta (Hansen) Santiago Letriz, 89, of Tacoma, Wash., passed away on Oct. 8, 2012.

Born Jan. 17, 1923, in Rhinelander, Wis., she was the daughter of Thorvald and Louise Hansen.

Loretta loved a good joke, enjoyed baking, sewing and spending time with her large family.

Lila Lietzau

Lila Lietzau of Conover, formerly of Pewaukee, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau. She was 82.

Mrs. Lietzau was born January 15, 1930, in Longwood, the daughter of Jesse and Iva Capes. She married Bob Lietzau Sept. 16, 1950, in Milwaukee.

She enjoyed cooking for her family and sewing. Mrs. Lietzau was a member of the Pioneer Lake Lutheran Church in Conover, where she helped make banners and quilts.

Norman H. Madaus

Norman H. Madaus of St. Germain, formerly of Pewaukee, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at his home. He was 86.

Mr. Madaus was born Aug. 18, 1926, in Oshkosh, the son of Arthur and Anna (née Schwebke) Madaus.

He was a veteran of U.S. Navy, serving in World War II?in the Pacific theater. Mr. Madaus worked in construction as a drywaller, and a lifetime member of Carpenter’s Union Local 334 in Milwaukee. He was a member of the Hartland American Legion and the Pewaukee Volunteer Fire Department.

Betty M. Schimke

Betty M. Schimke of Eagle River, formerly of Bear Lake, Mich., died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at Eagle River Memorial Hospital. She was 85.

Mrs. Schimke was born April 14, 1927, in Michigan, to Alfred and Ada (née Wall) Keillor.

She enjoyed volunteering her time throughout the area, particularly with the Vilas County Commission on Aging and the Northwoods Childrens Museum. She was also a talented basket maker and a member of a local book club.

Stella E. Kinner Caskey

Stella E. Kinner Caskey of Phelps died Oct. 8, 2012, at Eagle River Memorial Hospital. She was 96.

Mrs. Caskey was born April 23, 1916 in Nelma, the daughter of Patrick and Grace Spencer. She married Lawrence Kinner and moved to Phelps.

She worked at Hess & Evenson general store and Northwoods Hospital where she first served as a bookkeeper and then an X-ray technician and purchasing agent.

Frank Cottone

Frank Cottone of Phelps died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at his home. He was 62.

Mr. Cottone was born July 14, 1950, in Brooklyn, N.Y. He served as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, delivering mail in Phelps, Land O’ Lakes and Conover.

Bernice Hayden

Bernice Hayden of Eagle River, formerly of Milwaukee, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at Seasons of Life Hospice House in Woodruff. She was 76.

Mrs. Hayden was born March 11, 1936, in South Milwaukee, the daughter of Edward and Antoinette Leutner. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Eagle River.
