After an extended illness, Connie Farvour, age 94, left this earthly life on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, to join her Heavenly Father, and many family members and dear friends who went on before her.
Connie was born on Aug. 4, 1918, in the small town of Gagen, Wis., and grew up in that area with her parents and five siblings.
She loved going to school in the little one-room schoolhouse where she graduated from eighth grade with honors. Unfortunately, she was unable to attend high school as there was no bus service or other transportation, so she chose not to “walk 20+ miles to school through deep

Janet (née Dottai) Leverenz of Green Valley, Ariz., died at the University of Arizona Medical Center in Tucson, Ariz., Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013. She was 79.
Mrs. Leverenz was born June 6, 1933, in Sheboygan, and was a graduate of North High School. She married John Leverenz Dec. 3, 1955. They were married for 57 years.
Leverenz was an employee of the West Bend School District where she worked until retirement. Leverenz was a long-time resident of West Bend and a seasonal resident of Three Lakes and Green Valley, Ariz.

Helen Marion Martin, of Eagle River, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013. She was 96.
She was born Jan. 19, 1917, in Chicago, the daughter of Valaria and Stanley Marszowicz; the sister of Marie, Rose and Stanley.
At the age of 13, she left home and school to work as a nanny during the Great Depression.

Robert “Bob” Spiess, age 89, a longtime resident of Conover, Wis., joined the love of his life, Barbie, up in Heaven on Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at UW-Madison Hospital in Madison, Wis.
He was born on May 29, 1923, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Gustav and Gussie Spiess.
He married his wife, Barbara Schmelter, on Dec. 2, 1944, in San Diego, Calif.

Robert L. Burke passed away peacefully Feb. 15, 2013. Born in Evanston, Ill., Aug. 10, 1932, Robert enlisted in the Navy in 1950, and was honorably discharged in August 1953. Robert began working for Illinois Bell. In 1964, Robert and his family took a vacation to Three Lakes,Wis, and he decided to move his family to Three Lakes to become the Three Lakes telephone man. He retired in the mid-1990s.

Norman B. Julius, age 90, of Greenville, went to his heavenly home on Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at Living Tree Estates in Greenville.
He was born on Sept. 28, 1922, son of the late Urvan and Ella (Bentle) Julius.
Norman farmed his entire life on the family dairy farm that was established in Greenville in 1877.

William “Bill” Macaulay, a 16-year resident of the North Woods, died at his son’s home Monday, Feb. 18, 2013.
Mr. Macaulay was born Aug. 5, 1925, in Madison, the son of Neil and Stella Macaulay.
Macaulay served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and worked as a chemical engineer in the Madison area for many years before relocating to the North Woods.

June I. Maurice, age 77, a resident of Eagle River, Wis., since 1971, died on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at her home.
June was born on June 28, 1935, in Brillion, Wis., to Lawrence and Priscilla Broehm.
June and her husband owned and operated Dyna Manufacturing and Dyna Sales and Service. They owned the first Ski-Doo dealership in the Northwoods (1975-1989).

Mr. Eldor Robert Pflughoeft, 94, Cisco Lake, Watersmeet, Mich., died Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, in Augusta, Ga., where he was spending the winter with his daughter.
He was a band director at Wakefield High School for many years and, with his wife, operated the Dairy Maid in Land O’ Lakes, Wis.
Survivors include four children, Diane (Paul) James, the Rev. Mark (Susie) Pflughoeft, Rex (Barb) Pflughoeft and Becky (Jay) Shifra; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a sister, Victoria (Kenneth) Richmond; three nephews and many other relatives.

Jim Tameling of Sayner, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. He was 53.
Mr. Tameling was born in Rhinelander, May 29, 1959, the son of Henry and Charlotte Tameling.
He attended schools in Eagle River, graduating in 1978. After graduation, he worked with his father and brothers at the construction business in Sayner.
