Karen Wessel

Karen Wessel (Poto­cki) passed away suddenly July 22, 2014, due to a tragic drowning.

Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth; and son, Michael; along with her sister, Janice.

As per her wishes, she has been cremated and services will be held at Our Lady of the Wayside Church, 434 W. Park St., Arlington Heights, IL 60005, Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at 11 a.m.

Shirley J. Doyle

Shirley J. Doyle, 78, of Eagle River, went to heaven on July 20, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer.

The celebration of Shirley’s life will be held Thursday, July 24, at 11 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Eagle River, with visitation prior to the service between 9 and 11 a.m. Please wear bright colors to reflect the vibrance of Shirley’s life. Pastor Bill Trosien will be officiating.

Marie Hafer

Marie Hafer, a resident of Eagle River, died Tuesday, July 15, 2014, in Eagle River. She was 76.

Mrs. Hafer was born July 6, 1938, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Fredrick and Johanna Hafer.

She worked as a principal and teacher at St. Peter’s school in Eagle River, and also worked at the Eagle River Nursing Home during her time at St. Peter’s.

John Hunter Higgins

John Hunter Higgins, formerly of Eagle River, died Monday, May 26, 2014, in Uriangato, Mexico. He was 71.

Mr. Higgins was born and raised in Chicago, Ill., the son of Royal J. Higgins and Dorothy H. Higgins.

He graduated from St. Ignatius High School in 1960 and the University of Notre Dame in 1964.

He was a teacher and administrator in the original Chicago Public Schools

Terence J. Main, age 64, longtime resident of Sugar Camp, died on Thursday, July 17, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family after a brave battle with cancer.

Terence was born on Feb. 1, 1950, in Chicago, Ill.

He served the United States of America when he joined the Marine Corps in 1968.

He married Kathy Novak on May 1,
