Women’s club to meet

The Three Lakes Women’s Club will meet Wednesday, April 16, at 1 p.m. in the lower level of the Demmer Memorial Library located at 6961 W. School St. in Three Lakes.

The election of officers for the 2014-’15 term will take place at the meeting.

Following the election, Library Director Janet Dixon will give an update on the library and the proposed renovation.

A presentation also will be given by ventriloquist

Historical museum gearing up for 2014

Although outward appearances could suggest the Three Lakes Historical Museum has been nothing but idle over the past winter, the interior of the Johnson House has been undergoing a major facelift.

The building is being reset to portray what a typical residence would have looked like during the World War I period.

New window treatments, artifacts and layout will greet visitors to the house this spring when the museum reopens for the season May 24.

Shortly after the an­nouncement of Wisconsin having the second largest population of bird watchers in the U.S. and just in time for the spring bird migration, the Wisconsin Bird Conservation Initiative and Bird City Wisconsin recently held their fourth annual summit in Oshkosh.

The summit focused on making area communities healthier for birds and people.

Bus for seniors sets trip to Rhinelander

Seniors 55 and older and adults with disabilities can reserve a seat on the Forest County bus traveling to Rhine­­lander via Three Lakes and Sugar Camp Wednesday, April 16.

The lift-equipped bus will originate in Crandon and make stops in Argonne and Hiles before stopping in Three Lakes at approxi­mately 8:15 a.m.

The bus will stop in Sugar Camp at approximately 8:45 a.m. on its way to Rhine­lander for the day. The cost for the full day of transportation will be $3 per person.

Passengers with specific medical appointments must give notice of the time

Art show planned at Center

The annual Northern Lakes Conference Middle School Art Show will be held at Three Lakes Center for the Arts.

The exhibit will be open April 26 and May 1-3, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Center.

Three Lakes students in seventh and eighth grades, along with middle school art  students from throughout the local area, will display creative designs.

Displays will include draw­ings, paintings, graphic design and three-dimensional art.

An artists reception will open the show Friday, April 25, at 5 p.m. at the Center.

Demmer Memorial Library plans appetizer contest April 16

The Demmer Memorial Library will sponsor an appetizer contest Wednesday, April 16, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the library located at 6961 W. School St. in Three Lakes.

Community members are welcome to enter their most decorative and delicious appetizers for a chance to win prizes.

The public also is welcome to sample the edible art and vote for their favorite submissions.

Prizes will be awarded for the best tasting appetizer and also for the most artistic entry.

Schoeneck challenging Mott in Oneida County Board race

Electors in Oneida County District 7 will go to the polls next Tuesday, April 1, to vote in a primary election for county board supervisor.

Incumbent Bob Mott of Pelican Lake is being challenged by Dennis Schoeneck of Enterprise. Gregory Meyer of Monico was eliminated from the race in the primary.

Mott has served on the county board for two years and Schoeneck has served on the Elcho School Board.
