Three Lakes School, chamber partner for new marquee project

The Three Lakes School District and the Three Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce have entered into a partnership to bring a state-of-the-art electronic marquee message center to the town and community of Three Lakes.

“This new marquee will provide the entire Three Lakes community and North Woods visitors with up-to-date information on school activities and area events 24 hours a day,” said District Administrator George Karling.

“Individuals will also now be able to gain advance knowledge of various future activities and events that will allow them to plan ahead on their next visits to the area,” said chamber Director Skip Brunswick.

The new marquee will be erected at the current static marquee

Relay For Life kickoff slated at Bucketheads

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Oneida County will hold a kickoff event Saturday, Feb. 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Bucketheads, located at 46 North Brown St. in Rhinelander.
Volunteers will launch their fundraising efforts for the year at the event, which will feature speakers from the community who have benefitted from the funds raised at Relay For Life.
Honorary cancer survivors will be present along with caregivers, and this will be the first opportunity to register a team and select a campsite for an overnight event to be held June 13-14 at Mike Webster Stadium in Rhine­lander.

Legion schedules pot roast dinner

The Three Lakes American Legion will hold a beef pot roast dinner Saturday, Feb. 22, serving from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
The dinner will include beef pot roast with all the trimmings, coffee and dessert for a cost of $8.
During the evening, the Legion Auxiliary’s Children and Youth Program will hold a benefit. There will be a treasure chest of items that will be sold for $1 each.

Shack Happy Luncheon slated Wednesday, Feb. 19

The Three Lakes Women’s Club will hold its annual Shack Happy Luncheon at the Oneida Village Inn Wednesday, Feb. 19, beginning with a social hour at 11 a.m. followed by lunch at noon.
The cost of the lunch will be $15 for a choice of crab-stuffed haddock or chicken cordon bleu.
The event will feature a steal-the-gift game after lunch. To participate, guests may take a white elephant gift for the game.

The meeting is set to take place at 6 p.m. in the Three Lakes Board Room, which is located near the front entrance of the Three Lakes High School.

Snomo club sets weenie roast PDF Print E-mail

The Northern Lights Snowmobile Club will hold its 10th annual weenie roast Sunday, Feb. 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event will take place on Three Lakes Snowmobile Trail No. 8 (Kimball Trail) near Sheltered Valley Road.
The public is welcome to arrive by snowmobile or car. Those arriving by car can enter three miles east of Military Road on Sheltered Valley Road at the horse trail parking lot.  
There will be hot dogs and marshmallows to roast over an open fire. Hot Dr. Pepper, hot chocolate, and cold beverages also will be available.

Center for the Arts to install new digital projection system

The Three Lakes Center for the Arts in the Northwoods recently announced that it will install a new Digital Cinema Technology-compliant digital projector with a 7.1 surround sound system.
The new projection system, which is set to be installed the week of Feb. 3, will replace the 35mm system that has been in use for the past five years.
This will allow the center to continue its tradition of offering movies in theatrical release.
