Shack Happy Luncheon set Feb. 19

The Three Lakes Women’s Club will hold its annual Shack Happy Luncheon at the Oneida Village Inn Wednesday, Feb. 19, beginning with a social hour at 11 a.m. followed by lunch at noon.
The cost of the lunch will be $15 for a choice of crab-stuffed haddock or chicken cordon bleu.
The event will feature a steal-the-gift game after lunch. To participate, guests may take a white elephant gift for the game.

Book fair set at school PDF Print E-mail

The Scholastic Book Fair Fiesta will be held at Three Lakes Elementary School from Feb. 10-14 in the school library.
The fair will be open during the parent-teacher conferences Feb. 10 from 1 to 7 p.m. From Feb. 11-14 it will be open 12:30 to 2 p.m.
Forty percent of the sales will go directly to purchasing books for the library and students’ classrooms.

Blood drive slated Feb. 7 PDF Print E-mail

The Three Lakes community will hold a blood drive at the Three Lakes High School Friday, Feb. 7, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Three Lakes food pantry continues service
The Three Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce recently sponsored a breakfast at the Three Lakes Christian Food Pantry. The Three Lakes Christian Food Pantry is a staple in the community and continues to assist area residents with supplemental groceries and spiritual counseling.

Sponsored by the area churches, the pantry’s focus area is the Three Lakes School District, which includes Three Lakes, Sugar Camp, Clearwater Lake and Monico.

Bus to transport seniors, disabled to Rhinelander

Seniors 55 and older and adults with disabilities can reserve a seat on the Forest County bus traveling to Rhine­­lander via Three Lakes and Sugar Camp Wednesday, Feb. 12.

The lift-equipped bus will originate in Crandon and make stops in Argonne and Hiles before stopping in Three Lakes at approxi­mately 8:15 a.m.

The bus will stop in Sugar Camp at approximately 8:45 a.m. on its way to Rhine­lander for the day. The cost for the full day of transportation will be $3 per person.

Legion plans chicken dinner

A broasted chicken dinner will be held at the American Legion in Three Lakes Saturday, Jan. 25, serving from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

The dinner will include broasted chicken with all the trimmings, coffee and dessert for a cost of $8.

The Jim Pekol Trio will perform music starting at 7 p.m.

Used book sale set at Demmer

The Friends of Demmer Library will hold a used book sale Saturday, Jan. 25, from 9 a.m. to noon in the lower level of the library located on W. School Street in Three Lakes.

“We would like to thank everyone who helped make 2013 a good year for us,” said Friends of the Library President Sarah Ewing. “By purchasing and donating books the community enables us to provide our library with much needed support.”

The book sales are held the fourth Saturday of each month. Donations of gently used books, both fiction and nonfiction, are always needed and may be dropped off at the library.

Exxon-Mobil donates to Pines

Exxon-Mobil?awarded Northland Pines High School (NPHS) with a $500 2013 Educational Alliance in Math and Science grant. Exxon-Mobil provides the grants to schools within the service area of each of their stations.

Sayner Mobil’s owner Rick Lovdal filled out the paperwork and nominated NPHS to receive one of the grants.
