Nicolet Bird Club to hold meeting

The Nicolet Bird Club of Three Lakes will meet Monday, Jan. 20, at 6:30 p.m. in the Three Lakes Community Center, located on School Street in Three Lakes.

This month, the presentation will be “Gone to the Birds” and will be given by Dave Franzen.

As a hunter and a gatherer, Franzen had an appropriate job with the U.S. Forest Service, which he retired from in 2001.

American Legion sets chicken dinner

A broasted chicken dinner will be held at the American Legion in Three Lakes Saturday, Jan. 25, serving from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

The dinner will include broasted chicken with all the trimmings, coffee and dessert for a cost of $8.

The Jim Pekol Trio will perform music starting at 7 p.m.

For reservations, call (715) 546-3431 after noon. Tickets may also be picked up at the American Legion.

The next business meetings for the American Legion Post 431 and Auxiliary will be held Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 7 p.m. Coffee and dessert will be provided.

Preschool screening scheduled this Friday

The Three Lakes School District is seeking parents with 3- and 4-year-old children to participate in its annual preschool screening Friday, Jan. 17, at Three Lakes Elementary School.

This is an opportunity for parents and guardians to see how their children grow and develop compared to age group benchmarks for all children.

At the end of the screening, an interviewer will be on hand to discuss any questions or concerns people may have regarding their child’s development.

The Three Lakes Women’s Club will hold its annual chili luncheon Wednesday, Jan. 15, at the Reiter Center in Three Lakes.

A social will start at 11 a.m., followed by the chili lunch at noon.

This month, the speaker will be Chris Cook, a member of the 2006 U.S. Olympic cross-country ski team.

Demmer Library to hold free e-reader workshop

The Edward U. Demmer Library will hold a free e-reader and tablet workshop Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 2 p.m.

The one-hour hands-on demonstration will feature Nooks, iPads, Nexus 10 and Kindle devices for participants to explore.

Bus for seniors slated for trip to Rhinelander

Seniors 55 and older and adults with disabilities can reserve a seat on the Forest County bus traveling to Rhine­­lander via Three Lakes and Sugar Camp Wednesday, Jan. 15.

The lift-equipped bus will originate in Crandon and make stops in Argonne and Hiles before stopping in Three Lakes at approxi­mately 8:15 a.m.

The bus will stop in Sugar Camp at approximately 8:45 a.m. on its way to Rhine­lander for the day. The cost for the full day of transportation will be $3 per person.

Passengers with specific medical appointments must give notice of the time and location of the appointment when making the bus reservation.
