Demmer Memorial Library in Three Lakes will host a free gardening workshop Wednesday, May 15, at 6:30 p.m. in the lower level of the library.

A vertical lift is available near the side entrance to the library for those who need assistance.

Bird club sets next meeting at Demmer

The Nicolet Bird Club of Three Lakes will hold its monthly meeting Monday, May 20, beginning at 6 p.m. in the lower level of Demmer Memorial Library, located on School Street in Three Lakes.

This month’s meeting will feature Mike Peczynski giving a presentation on the birds of the Sam Campbell Trail.

Peczynski is the U.S. Forest Service wildlife biologist

 Three Lakes junior and senior high school recently announced its April Students of the Month. Women’s club sets annual tea

The Three Lakes Women’s Club will hold its annual Graduation Tea at the Reiter Center Wednesday, May 15, beginning with a reception at noon and the tea at 12:30 p.m.

Church to host fish fry May 10

Faith Lutheran Church in Three Lakes will hold its Spring Fish Fry Friday, May 10, at Oneida Village Inn beginning at 4:30 p.m.

The meal cost will be $12 for adults and $6 for children younger than 12. Included in the price is an all-you-can-eat buffet of fish, broasted chicken, coleslaw, potato salad, french fries, bread and  dessert. Take-out orders will be welcomed.

Diabetes screening set at Reiter Center

The Three Lakes Lions Club, Baker’s Foods and À La Carte Care Services For Seniors will sponsor a community diabetes screening to be held Saturday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Reiter Center.

Participants don’t need to fast and results will be provided instantly on site by medical professionals.

Earth day
For the third year, fifth-graders at Three Lakes Elementary School created Earth Day bags for Baker’s Three Lakes Foods in an effort to spread the word about keeping the planet a healthy place to live. Senior bus to visit Rhinelander May 15

Seniors 55 and older and adults with disabilities are welcome to reserve a seat on the Forest County bus traveling to Rhinelander via Three Lakes and Sugar Camp Wednesday, May 15.

The lift-equipped bus will originate in Crandon and make stops in Argonne and Hiles before stopping in Three Lakes at approximately 8:15 a.m.

The bus then will travel through Sugar Camp on its way

Library plans seminar on vermicomposting

Demmer Memorial Li­brary welcomes the public to attend a free workshop on vermicompost gardening Wednesday, May 8, at 6:30 p.m.

The workshop will be presented by Margie Rychlock, a hobby farmer and program coordinator at Northwoods Children’s Museum in Eagle River.

Vermicomposting is an inexpensive indoor way to compost for people who may be short on backyard space.
