Alice in Wonderland musical staged at Three Lakes High

The Three Lakes High School Drama Department will stage the musical “Alice in Wonderland: Through a Steampunk Glass” this Friday through Sunday, April 5-7.

This musical combines the work of Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking-Glass” set to music by Stone Sour, The Beatles, Christina Aguilera, The Doors, The Who and Queen.

Easter festivities
The Three Lakes Lions Club held its annual Easter Egg Hunt Saturday at Three Lakes School. Attendees got the opportunity to visit with the Easter Bunny. Three Lakes named Bird City Wisconsin

Three Lakes recently joined the ranks of 60 communities throughout the state which have been awarded Bird City Wisconsin certification.

Modeled after the success of the Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree City USA program, Bird City Wisconsin developed 22 conservation criteria across five categories which include habitat creation and protection, community forest management, limiting hazards, public education and recognizing International Migratory Bird Day.

Womens club to hold annual election meeting

The Three Lakes Women’s Club will hold its annual election meeting Wednesday, April 17, in the lower level of the Demmer Library at 1 p.m.

Following the election of officers, there will be a presentation given by Demmer Library Director Janet Dixon.

Members can take a friend to the meeting. Non-perishable

Dog sled presentation
The Outdoors Club at Sugar Camp Elementary School recently took part in a presentation on dog sledding put on by Mike and Jared Kortenhof. The students each received a ride from the sled dog team and a brief history lesson on the purpose of the sport in the past.  —Contributed Photo

Bus trip to Rhinelander set April 17 for seniors

Seniors 55 and older and adults with disabilities are welcome to reserve a seat on the Forest County bus traveling to Rhinelander via Three Lakes and Sugar Camp Wednesday, April 17.

The bus will originate in Crandon and make stops in Argonne and Hiles before stopping in Three Lakes at approximately 8:15 a.m.

ATV club plans fundraiser

 

The recently formed Three Lakes Nicolet ATV/UTV Club will hold a fundraiser spaghetti dinner this Saturday, March 30, at Bonnie’s Lakeside on Highway 32 beginning at 2 p.m.

The event will include several meat raffles, a 50/50 raffle and various prizes donated by local businesses and supporters.

Dinner will be served at 3:30 p.m. and an address regarding the state of the club will be given at 5 p.m. The cost for dinner

Hearing loop devices to be featured at Demmer

Public libraries in Three Lakes, Rhinelander and Minocqua have been notified that they will receive funding under a federal grant to provide enhanced customer service to the hearing impaired.

Demmer Memorial Library in Three Lakes was one of the three libraries which volunteered to participate in a demonstration project by installing hearing loops at its service desks.

Geography Bee
Students from Sugar Camp recently held a geography bee where 17 students competed at the school level in six preliminary rounds, narrowing  competitors to just seven in the finalist round. Fifth-grader Clarke Mouw (left) won the championship round with a tie-breaker question against runner-up, Drake Martin (right).
