Friends of Demmer plan Fourth of July book sale

The Friends of Demmer Library will hold its annual Fourth of July used-book sale Friday, July 4, from 9 a.m. to noon in the lower level of the library located on West School Street in Three Lakes.

Both hardcover and paperback books will be available for purchase.

Whiskey Northern Railroad Brass Band set to perform early 1900s period music

As a part of its Concerts in the Park Series, the Three Lakes Historical Society will welcome the Whiskey Northern Railroad Brass Band to the Cy Williams Park gazebo Tuesday, July 1, at 7 p.m.

The concert will be a historical reenactment and Americana-themed performance.

Adirondack chair raffle to benefit Aqua Devils

The Three Lakes Aqua Devils Waterski Club will raffle an Adirondack chair crafted by Anthony Regole of Chair Built Custom Woodworking, who built the chair using vintage wooden skis.

The chair will be on display in the Fourth of July parade in Three Lakes, at that evening’s waterski show and at each show Wednesdays and Saturdays at 6:30 p.m. at the Phyllis B. Felland

Church plans annual bazaar

The Women’s Fellowship of Union Congregational Church will hold its annual Bazaar, Lunch and Bake Sale Wednesday, June 25, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event will take place at the church located on the corner of Forest and Superior streets in Three Lakes.

The bazaar will feature a bake sale, open grab bags with household items and other unique items on display. The women also will sell brooms and cutlery.

A plate lunch will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information, call Vi Kveck at (715) 546-3511.

Invasives program set at Demmer

Edward U. Demmer Memorial Library will hold a presentation on invasive plants Monday, June 30, at 6:30 p.m.

Attendees will learn about invasives and what to do to help preserve the North Woods.

In 2013, Baerbel Ehrig performed a survey of Three Lakes town roads, looking for invasive plants, and will share her findings and how invasives are affecting the area.

Dan Harlow was honored at the Three Lakes Fish & Wildlife Improvement Associxation banquet Saturday night at the Reiter Center for his 38 years of service to the hunter safety program in Three Lakes. Health department to inspect car seats

The Oneida County Health Department, in collaboration with Safe Kids Worldwide, will conduct free car seat inspections Monday, June 23, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Rhinelander Fire Station, located at 128 W. Fredrick St. in Rhinelander.

No appointment is necessary, and participants may simply visit the Rhinelander Fire Station to get car seats checked by a certified car seat technician.

Faerie Fest to feature crafts, costumes, dancing

Organizers are in full swing getting ready for the sixth annual Woodland Enchantment Faerie Festival slated for Saturday, July 26, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Enchanted Garden in Three Lakes, located at 7434 Halverson Road.

This unique event is a fusion of whimsy and art, combining costumes, live music, dance and crafts. Festively attired faeries, sprites and other creations will be on hand for the festival.
