Faith Lutheran Church announces Ken Ranos to serve as new pastor
The Rev. Ken Ranos recently moved to Three Lakes and will serve as the new pastor at Faith Lutheran Church. Faith Lutheran Church ELCA?has announced that the Rev. Ken Ranos has become its new pastor.

Born and raised in Chicago, Ranos’ father is a firefighter and his mother was a pet groomer.

After receiving bachelors’ degrees in music and religion, Ranos joined Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio, in the fall of 2009 and recently was or­dained at Lebanon Lutheran Church, his home church in Chicago.

Ranos was always into music. He said he wanted to be a band director, and was a member of his award-winning high school band.

While in college studying music, he realized that he didn’t want to be a music teacher,

Genealogical society sets meeting Feb. 24

The Three Lakes Genea­logical Society will meet Monday, Feb. 24, at 1 p.m. in the lower level of Edward U. Demmer Library.

“Take advantage of this long winter and get in some quality family-history re­search by coming to the Genealogical Society meeting and sharing your research successes and brick walls,” said an event spokesperson.

Weenie roast

Three Lakes School, chamber partner for new marquee project

The Three Lakes School District and the Three Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce have entered into a partnership to bring a state-of-the-art electronic marquee message center to the town and community of Three Lakes.

“This new marquee will provide the entire Three Lakes community and North Woods visitors with up-to-date information on school activities and area events 24 hours a day,” said District Administrator George Karling.

“Individuals will also now be able to gain advance knowledge of various future activities and events that will allow them to plan ahead on their next visits to the area,” said chamber Director Skip Brunswick.

The new marquee will be erected at the current static marquee
