St. Germain chamber sponsors Christmas in July craft fair
The St. Germain chamber sponsored the annual Christmas in July craft fair held in the community park and pavilion. The St. Germain Chamber of Commerce sponsored the annual Christmas in July Craft Fair held July 11 in the community park and pavilion.

Vendors showed only handmade items that ranged from jewelry to photography and woodworking to soy candles.

Vendors also included representatives of Wild Instincts, a rehabilitation center for injured animals.

PrimeTimers set events

This Saturday, July 20, the St. Germain PrimeTimers will sponsor a day full of fundraiser events, including a car show, craft fair, youth carnival and brat fry.

The car show and craft fair are set from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the St. Germain town park.

The youth carnival will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature activities for those 12 and younger.

Fire department receives new brush truck
St. Germain Fire Chief Tim Clark announced that the department received delivery of a new brush truck at a town board meeting July 8. Members of the fire department gathered July 1 to transfer equipment from the old truck to the new one to save on overall cost. Lions Club announces Unique Raffle winners

The St. Germain Lions Club recently announced the winners of the fourth annual Unique Raffle that was held in conjunction with St. Germain’s Independence Day Celebration Sunday, June 30.

Cash raffle winners were: $4,000 prize, Linda Schneider; $1,000 prizes, Rosalie Schiffmann, Joe Koscielniak and Marty and Val Lincoln; $500 prizes, The Twilight Girls, Jim Krieck, Kylee and Alli Dorner and Herb Tetzke; and $250 prizes, Jack O’Brien, D. Maczko, Jenny Minaudo and Barb Wakefield.

Hot Reads
During the school year, students at Northland Pines-St. Germain Elementary School have their reading monitored and recorded by parents as part of the Hot Reads program. Students with the highest number of minutes read are treated to lunch, a fire truck ride to school and, new this year, a fire truck ride in the Independence Day Parade. Lake group plans meeting

The Found Lake Association announced its annual meeting will be conducted Saturday, July 6, at 11 a.m. at the Vandervort Park on the north shore of Lost Lake in St. Germain.

Agenda items to be discussed include the financial status of the association, updates on the Department of Natural Resources-supported lake monitoring activities, the health of the fish population and future stocking issues.

Plum Lake Library sets events

Plum Lake Library recently announced the upcoming summer events.

Dig Into Reading summer reading events continue with the preschool story hour every Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. with the exception of July 10.

Movin’ and Groovin’, a new story time featuring an hour of musical stories, movement and song with Lisa Jo and Dan Borchers will be held Fridays, July 5, July 12, and July 26, beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Tom Pease will return July 10, at 1:30 p.m. with his stories and activities.

Visit China with Suzi Stephenson is scheduled for Thursday, July 11, at 7 p.m.

Grand marshal
Denny Weber of St. Germain was selected as Grand Marshal for the town’s 2013 Independence Day parade. Weber received a Purple Heart and Oak Leaf Cluster serving during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1952. Weber has been a resident of St. Germain for more than 41 years and had owned Anchor Resort on Little St. Germain Lake prior to becoming an area builder.                                       —Staff Photo By ANTHONY DREW
