Plum Lake Library holds robot program

Ten children gathered at Plum Lake Library in Sayner July 3 to learn about and build their own robots as part of the library’s summer reading program.

Librarian Ida Nemec read from the book, “Robots, robots are everywhere. Robots milk cows. Robots vacuum carpets.”

Nemec appealed to the children’s imagination by telling them, “Think about how you would like to design your robot. Think about what you would like your robot to do.”

Fire department hosts Fourth of July Picnic

Each year the Plum Lake Volunteer Fire Department puts on a Fourth of July Barbecue Chicken Picnic at the Plum Lake Community Center along with the trout pond. Both activities are designed to attract young and old alike.

“The crowds seem to be getting bigger each year and without good participation from our volunteers and the supporters, this would not be possible.” said Ed Johnston of the fire department. “Our thanks to all who support our efforts.”

Thrift shop donates to veterans group

The Disabled American Veterans (DAV)-Rhinelander Chapter 62 was the featured charity at the Community United Church of Christ Thrift Shop in St. Germain for the month of June. A donation of $525 was made to the organization.

The DAV offers assistance with veteran disability claims, as well as transportation to Veterans Administration (VA) Clinics and Hospitals.

Christensen memorial golf outing held at St. Germain Golf Course
Hazel Christensen presented memorial donations in the name of her late husband, Lee Christensen, at the St. Germain Golf Course June 27. The family of the late H. Lee Christensen sponsored a memorial golf outing at St. Germain Golf Course June 27.

A memorial bench was presented to the course, and monetary donations were given to St. Germain’s Bike and Hike Trail and the Plum Ski-ters Water Ski Show Team in Sayner.

Architect meets with library board to discuss elevator project details

Jeff Visner, architect at Design/Build by Visner in Eagle River, met with members of the Plum Lake Library Board June 27 to discuss the next step in the library’s elevator project.

The location of the elevator, remodeling the basement area, access and egress, as well as plumbing considerations were discussed.
