Garage sale slated May 24

The Community Garage and Bake Sale will be held Saturday, May 24, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Sayner Community Building.

All proceeds from this event will benefit the Community Food Pantry in Boulder Junction.

Chicken picnic
The St. Germain Women’s Service Club held its annual barbecue chicken picnic April 26 at the community center. The event featured games for children of all ages, several raffle items including gardening and pet-item baskets, and a bake sale with proceeds benefiting club projects. Thrift store holds grand opening

The Community United Church of Christ (CUCC) Thrift Shop in St. Germain had its grand opening May 3.

The shop moved to a larger area storefront to the south of its previous location on Highway 70. Members of St. Germain’s CUCC operate the shop.

Ellyn Dahnke, a volunteer from the church said, “We have a box by the door where people can donate food items to the Vilas Food Pantry. Each week a volunteer comes to the store to pick up the donated items.”

The Sayner-Star Lake Lioness Club hosted its 17th  annual Spring Stampede in Sayner May 3. The event focused on rubber stamps, stamping accessories and art.

“Growth is good, but we want to control the chaos,” said Lioness President, Mitzi Pockat. “The event is so popular that people are just about breaking down the doors to get in.”

Hall, Prigge receive Lions Club scholarships

The Sayner/Star Lake Lions Club (SLLC) selected Rachael Hall and Vaun Prigge, both of the Sayner-Star Lake area, as the recipients of $1,000 scholarships.

The SLLC offers four $1,000 scholarships. Two are awarded to high school seniors planning to continue their education. The other two are awarded to individuals who are already attending college or tech school.
