Hobo Dinner set Feb. 15

The Friends of the Plum Lake Library  in Sayner will host a Hobo Dinner Saturday, Feb. 15. Dinner will be served from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Sayner Community Building.
The menu will feature homemade Hobo Stew, coleslaw, pickles, bread, brownies and a beverage.
Tickets for the event will be $7.50 for adults or $8 at the door, and $4.50 for 12 and younger or $5 at the door. Tickets are available at the library.

Elementary school Hot Reads winners attend lunch at Knockers Feb. 5
St. Germain Elementary School awarded 16 students who read the highest number of minutes outside of school with a ride in a fire engine to Knocker’s Pizza Co. as part of its Hot Reads reading program Feb. 5. Sixteen students from Northland Pines Elementary-St. Germain were honored for reading the highest number of minutes outside of school with a fire truck ride to lunch at Knocker’s Pizza Co. in St. Germain Feb. 5.
Members of the St. Germain Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department brought five trucks and were joined by Plum Lake Chief Kevin Rasmussen, who also brought a truck.
“It’s great to support the kids and their reading program,” said Rassmussen.

Groomer Show held Feb. 5-6

Manufacturers and those shopping for trail-grooming equipment descended on St. Germain for the 17th annual Groomer Show, sponsored by Walker Equipment, Feb. 5-6, at the Walker Equipment facility on Highway 70 East.
St. Germain is the home of Arrowhead Groomers made by Walker Equipment, and one of the largest snowmobile clubs in the nation, the Bo-Boen Tribe.
This is the 17th year the club supported the efforts of Walker to have a groomer show in St. Germain.

Sayner area businesses  Rustic Rivers, Traditions and GreenWeavers have teamed up to promote and bring shoppers to Sayner for the Presidents Day weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday,  Feb 14-16.
There will be 30% off storewide and up to 70% off select items.
“Discover what others are saying about shopping in Sayner,” said a Rustic Rivers representative.

Elementary school holds Color Day
Winners of the annual Fire Prevention Poster Contest were announced at the St. Germain Elementary School Color Day Jan 29. Winners in their respective grade levels included, from left, Colby Kruse, Sami Huelskamp, Karson Thomas, Emma Weber, Karlin Williams and Jaydin Ellias. The posters will be forwarded to the Firefighters Association for regional fire prevention poster judging. Winners will go on to the State competition. Color Day aims to promote good behavior, dedicated learning and academic discovery at home and school.
