Snowflake Dance slated Jan. 11

The 16th annual Snow­flake Dance will be held Saturday, Jan. 11, at 7 p.m. at the St. Germain Community Center.

The Bill Hassey Orchestra will provide the musical entertainment. The band features Skip Wagner, who is known for playing two trumpets at once, as well as many other instruments.

This is a community dance sponsored by the St. Germain PrimeTimers.

Holiday giving
Eleven St. Germain Lions, including, front row from left, Ken Hollman and Doug Kaltenbach; back row, Bruce Weber, Jim Carter, Craig Callies, Steve Carlberg, Don Karl, Stan Rakowski, Tom Zimmerman, Gary McCormick and Don Arcus, met at Camp’s Sentry Foods Dec. 11 to pick up and deliver boxes of groceries to 80 homes in the area. According to Weber, the boxes are a way of remembering those who need a little extra care at the holidays and those who have lost loved ones during the year. Community Blood Drive scheduled Dec. 31

A Community Blood Drive will be held Tuesday, Dec. 31, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the fire house, located at 533 Highway 155 in St. Germain. The St. Germain Lions Club will host the drive.

Donations of all blood types are needed but people with O negative, A negative, B negative and O positive blood are especially needed.

This is a pay it forward blood drive, where blood donors can enter a drawing to win two $50 gift cards.

Winners will be encouraged to use one gift card and give the other gift card to someone in need,

Elementary school receives $500 grant from Exxon Mobil

A $500 Exxon Mobil Educational Alliance Program Grant was presented to Northland Pines Elementary School-St. Germain Dec. 18. Exxon Mobil provides the grants to schools within a service station’s community for science and math education.

“The Grant’s subtitle is ‘Filling up youthful minds.’ It provides funds for the school to add equipment or books to help round out its science and math curriculum,”
