Additional defibrillator to be purchased for St. Germain Golf Course property

The purchase of an additional Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), which would be positioned on the St. Germain Golf Course property, was discussed at the St. Germain Town Board meeting April 15.

Town Treasurer Marion Janssen explained, “I took the first responder class at Nicolet College this winter and realized the importance of having an AED available in public places.”

According to Jansen, one of the two units purchased by the fire department, the Zoll unit, is very user-friendly, and tells the user exactly what to do if someone has a suspected cardiac arrest.

Sheriff demonstrates new fuel system

Vilas County Sheriff Joe Fath gave the St. Germain Fire and Rescue Department a close look at the newly installed propane fuel system on his squad car on April 7 during a training session.

The vehicle is equipped with both propane and gasoline fuel systems.

Firemen were shown the fill port on the side of the car, the storage tank, feed lines and elements of the operating system under the hood. Safety regarding for the new fuel system was also discussed.

Fire department purchases emergency equipment

St. Germain Fire and Rescue Department has decided to purchase automatic external defibrillator (AED) units for use in emergency medical situations such as cardiac arrest.

Dave Imlah of Allied 100, an emergency and medical training equipment company in Woodruff, attended the department’s monthly training session and business meeting April 7 to present information on AED units, for which the department was considering to purchase.

Fire department encourages reading

The St. Germain Fire and Rescue Department took thirteen St. Germain Elementary School students to lunch at Knocker’s Pizza Co. in St. Germain April 9 as part of Hot Reads Program.

The program rewards students who read the most parent-certified minutes away from school over the course of the school quarter.

Winning students are recognized in the quarterly Color Day
