Service club plans meeting

The St. Germain Women’s Service Club will meet Tuesday, Jan. 21, at the St. Germain Community Building.

Social hour begins at 11 a.m. with a luncheon to follow at noon. Judy Wainwright of the Enchanted Doll Club will present a program at 1 p.m.

To become a member of  the St. Germain Women’s Club or to make a luncheon reservation, call Sandy at (715) 542-4538.

Estate donation
Gerry Sykora and Diane Nielsen, co-directors of the St. Germain Community United Church of Christ Thrift Shop, displayed items donated Jan. 3 from the estate of Jane Powell. Valued at more than $600, Powell’s children donated the estate items including fabric squares, remnants, batting, hand-stitched quilts, lap quilts and a dozen cross-stitch pattern books. The thrift shop is located in the St. Germain mall, and is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.	         —Photo By Wally Geist

Cookie donations
Members of the St. Germain Community United Church of Christ, including, from left, Pat Rockafield, Barb Verseman, the Rev. Dan Borchers, Buffy Miller-Jackson, Kathy Rabe and Vi May, gathered Dec. 10 to package homemade cookies for the Vilas Food Pantry. Other churches and businesses also provide cookies to this effort. Snowflake Dance slated Jan. 11

The 16th annual Snow­flake Dance will be held Saturday, Jan. 11, at 7 p.m. at the St. Germain Community Center.

The Bill Hassey Orchestra will provide the musical entertainment. The band features Skip Wagner, who is known for playing two trumpets at once, as well as many other instruments.

This is a community dance sponsored by the St. Germain PrimeTimers.

Holiday giving
Eleven St. Germain Lions, including, front row from left, Ken Hollman and Doug Kaltenbach; back row, Bruce Weber, Jim Carter, Craig Callies, Steve Carlberg, Don Karl, Stan Rakowski, Tom Zimmerman, Gary McCormick and Don Arcus, met at Camp’s Sentry Foods Dec. 11 to pick up and deliver boxes of groceries to 80 homes in the area. According to Weber, the boxes are a way of remembering those who need a little extra care at the holidays and those who have lost loved ones during the year.
