Elementary school holds annual DARE graduation

St. Germain Elementary School held its annual Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) graduation celebration May 9.

While DARE is a popular program in U.S. schools, it is also an international education program that seeks to prevent children in the fifth grade from using drugs, engaging in violent behavior and joining a gang.

Sisters Saloon, Fibber’s win Martinis in May contest

Sisters Saloon and Fibber’s Restaurant, both in St. Germain, won the first-ever Martinis in May event, presented by the St. Germain Chamber of Commerce May 3 at Whitetail Inn in St. Germain.

The event brought more than 10 North Woods bartenders together to make martinis for 125 guests.

Guests were asked to vote for the Most Creative Martini and the Best Original Martini. Sisters Saloon won the most creative martini with its signature Pineapple

Castle Tea Party planned May 17

Plum Lake Public Library will hold its Castle Tea Party for children and families Saturday, May 17, at 11 a.m. The event will feature tea and snacks.

Girls are asked to come dressed as princesses, fairies or witches. Boys are asked to come as princes, knights or wizards.

Garage sale slated May 24

The Community Garage and Bake Sale will be held Saturday, May 24, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Sayner Community Building.

All proceeds from this event will benefit the Community Food Pantry in Boulder Junction.

Chicken picnic
The St. Germain Women’s Service Club held its annual barbecue chicken picnic April 26 at the community center. The event featured games for children of all ages, several raffle items including gardening and pet-item baskets, and a bake sale with proceeds benefiting club projects.
