Thrift shop to move to new location

The St. Germain Community United Church of Christ Thrift Shop will move into a new location adjacent to the present store. There will be a grand opening for the new store on Saturday, May 3.

Volunteers met at the new location April 1 to build a cashier’s station, a new changing room and shelving.

“The store has been very successful,” said Jerry Sykora, co-director. “We are happy to have Bruce Web­er’s support and will remodel the old Wooden Nickel for our growing business.”

Proceeds from the thrift shop are used

Vojta tops Bates in town board race

Former town board Supervisor John Vojta upset incumbent Supervisor William Bates 271-212 in a St. Germain Town Board election contest Tuesday, April 1.

Bates had served on the St. Germain Town Board for the past three years, while Vojta previously served on the board for six years.

Incumbent Supervisor Marvin Anderson was unopposed for the other supervisory seat.

Blood drive set April 15

Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church ELCA in Sayner will host a community blood drive Tuesday, April 15, from 1 to 6 p.m. at the church, located at 2903 Highway 155.

Blood donors must be at least 17 years of age, or 16 with written parental permission, be in general good health and present a photo ID.

Donors are encouraged to eat a meal and drink plenty of fluids before donating.

Walk-ins are welcome. To make an appointment, call Karen at (715) 542-4049.

Sneakers Running Club of St. Germain Elementary School, an after-school athletic program designed for third- through fifth-grade boys and girls, is currently preparing for the Journeys Marathon 5-kilometer run in Eagle River.

Co-founders and running coaches Shelly Hodkiewicz and Jenny Cox have registered 30 children and 13 parents and teachers at the school.

Service award
