Ritter to offer library program PDF Print E-mail

The Phelps Public Library will hold a land invasive species program hosted by Ted Ritter on Saturday, April 27, at 10:30 a.m.

Participants can learn about terrestrial invasive species throughout the area, including Eurasian bush honeysuckle, garlic mustard and Japanese knotweed.

Students to perform ‘Aladdin’ for spring musical May 11

Phelps School will perform the musical “Aladdin” Saturday, May 11, at 7 p.m. in the small gymnasium.

The musical’s cast will consist of choir students under the direction of Kim Johnson.

The story of Aladdin originated in tales from Asia, Arabia and Persia, and has evolved into a plot about a teenager seeking self-respect instead of the approval of others.

Diva Day set at lodge PDF Print E-mail

The third annual Diva Day event at Holiday Lodge in Phelps will be held this Sat­urday, April 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Vendors based throughout northern Wisconsin will at­tend the event to showcase specials and discounted items, according to event organizers.

Diva Day also will feature cash-and-carry items, along with food, drinks and entertainment. Organizers also are planning various raffles and a door prize to be drawn at 3:45 p.m.

Donations will be accepted at Diva Day for the Vilas Animal Shelter. For more information, call Sarah Wirtz at (920) 819-0811.

Women’s club to meet at school PDF Print E-mail

The Phelps Women’s Club  meet Monday, April 15, at 1 p.m. at Phelps School in Room 111.

Attendees can enter through the upper parking lot doors.

The school will provide a treat, guest speaker and a tour of the school. Guests are welcome to attend.

Snook, Spurgeon contend for Phelps chairman seat

Three others seek
supervisor posts

Voters in Phelps will hold elections for the chairman seat and two supervisor positions Tuesday, April 2.

Polls will be open at the Phelps Fire Hall from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Incumbent Chairman Colin Snook will be challenged by Cynthia Spurgeon.

‘Alice’ to crown Maple Tour princess

Rochelle Ripp, the 65th Alice in Dairyland, will visit Phelps Friday, April 5, to give a program at the school and to crown the Phelps Maple Syrup Princess at Holiday Lodge as part of the Phelps Maple Tour.

She grew up near Lodi on her family’s dairy and cash crop farm. Ripp was involved in 4H and graduated from UW-Platteville in 2009 with an agribusiness degree in communications.

Alice in Dairyland is a one-year, full-time public relations professional employed by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection.

Class fundraiser
Phelps second-grade student Madison Nyman served a customer at the classes recent breakfast fundraiser at Sunrise Lodge, which served 140 guests. Funds raised will support the class trip to the Milwaukee Public Museum in May.
