Pietenpol awarded for artwork

Angela Pietenpol of Phelps was among Gold and Silver Key winning artists whose work will be on display in Schroeder Galleria and Pieper Gallery now through March 16.

The art is being displayed as a part of Milwaukee Art Museum’s annual exhibition of works by Wisconsin students grades 7 through 12.

More than 2,300 individual artworks from 112 schools across the state participated in the Scholastic Art Awards.

Phelps Maple Syrup Fest to hold third event April 5

Phelps Maple Syrup Fest will hold its third annual event Saturday, April 5, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Phelps School, located at 4451 Old School Road.

Events will include hands-on tree-tapping demos, guided bus and self-guided driving tours of local sugar bushes, craft show and sale, Maple Princess crowning by Wisconsin’s Alice in Dairyland,

The Phelps School grade 5-6 basketball team recently took first place at an elementary school basketball tournament. The team was coached by Roni Anne Kopanski, and the tournament was put on by the school faculty. There were eight girls teams and five boys teams. 	—Contributed Photo

Winter carnival PDF Print E-mail
Phelps School/Community Committee recently sponsored the 10th annual Winter Carnival in the school gymnasium. More than 200 children and adults took part in the food, games and entertainment. The event also included live music by Popular Girl Band, and a chili/soup cookoff and dessert cook-off. All events were open to the public and there was no charge for admission. Snomo club sets brat fry

The Phelps Snowmobile Club will hold a trailside brat fry Saturday, Feb. 15, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the intersection of trails 45N and 6W.
Brats, hot dogs, beverages and cookies will be available.
“Warm your toes and hands around the bonfire while being entertained with live music,” said an event spokesperson.

Phelps sanitary publishes notice

Due to the extreme cold weather, the Phelps Sanitary District recommends that all water customers continuously trickle water 24 hours per day until further notice.
Only one faucet trickling water about a pencil lead in diameter is necessary.
Every utility customer will get credit for trickling water.

After competing in the 28th annual Great Northern Ice Fishing Tournament on Lac Vieux Desert in Phelps, anglers and their guests, totaling more than 220 people, attended dinner and an awards ceremony at the Derby Track in Eagle River.
