Candidate forum set March 20

Phelps Community Development will hold a Meet the Candidate Forum at Phelps School Thursday, March 20, at 7 p.m.

This will be an opportunity for the voters of Phelps to submit questions to those candidates running for positions on the town board, county board and school board.

June Franzen of Phelps will serve as moderator and will ask the candidates questions submitted by area voters.

The committee encourages Phelps voters to get involved in the forum and the ask the candidates where they stand on the issues.

There are questions forms along with a deposit box located in the hallway of the Phelps Library. Questions must be submitted by this Friday, March 14.

Second-graders set fundraiser

The Phelps second-grade class, under the direction of Pam Klessig, has scheduled a breakfast fundraiser event Saturday, March 22, at Sunrise Lodge on West Shore Road from 7:30 to 11 a.m.

Tickets cost $10 for adults and $6 for children younger than 10.

Breakfast will be served by second-grade students and will benefit the class’ trip to Milwaukee Public Museum.

Tickets are available from students and may be purchased at the door. Raffle tickets for a Kindle Fire HD also are available for $1 each or six for $5. The drawing will take place at 11 a.m. the day of the breakfast.

Blood drive set Thursday

The Phelps community will hold a blood drive Thursday, March 13, from 2 to 6 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, located at 4494 Town Hall Road.

Walk-ins are welcome, but scheduling an appointment helps ensure a fast and convenient process. Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 with parental permission), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health and have photo identification.

Snow sculpture contest
Students from Phelps High School recently participated in a team snow sculpture contest. Each class built a sculpture, which was graded on overall appearance, difficulty of design and teamwork. Watercolor workshop set at Phelps Library March 7
Back by popular demand, a watercolor-painting workshop again will be offered to adults in the Phelps area. Participants will learn the basics of watercolor painting.        —Photo By Sharon Gifford

The program Watercolor Play for Adults recently was offered at the Phelps Library under the direction of Teresa Franzen.

Due to popular demand, the class will be offered again Friday, March 7, from 9:30 to 11 a.m.

Students will learn basic techniques and create pictures of Chinese dragons, flowers or a project of their choice.
