Women’s club plans meeting

The Phelps Women’s Club will meet at Big Sand Lake Club Monday, July 21, at 1 p.m.

Hostesses will be Big Sand Lake Club members. Items on the agenda include the results of the chicken dinner and Scarecrow Fest.

Teen award
Phelps High School junior Robert Rosner recently was recognized with the YMCA Teen Award. Each year, the YMCA of the Northwoods honors teens from Vilas, Oneida and Lincoln counties for demonstrating the YMCA’s core values of honesty, respect, caring and responsibility. Scholarship winners
The Phelps Women’s Club recently awarded academic scholarships to three area residents. Festivities set for Fourth

Festivities for the Fourth of July are planned in Phelps Friday, July 4, from 3 to 11 p.m.

The Lions Club Parade will begin at 3 p.m. through downtown Phelps, followed by the Chain Skimmers ski show on North Twin Lake and live music by Popular Girl beginning at 4 p.m.

There will be children’s games and activities, a pie-eating contest and chicken drop contest, along with 50/50 raffles.

Contest winner
Elizabeth Black, 12, of Appleton and Phelps won the logo contest sponsored by Barry and Wendy Mohr of Sweet Treats & More in Phelps with her logo “It’s Doggone Good.” Black designed the logo for the I.C. Sammy treat, winning the first-place prize of an ice cream sandwich every day for the season. Michael Franzen, 13, of Phelps took second and Brandon Aderhold, 10, of Edgerton won third prize.
