Snomo club sets brat fry

Phelps Snowmobile Club will sponsor a brat fry and bake sale at Trig’s in Eagle River Friday, Aug. 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The club will have homemade pies on hand. All proceeds go toward grooming trails.

Club members will be available to answer questions about the trails. For more information, call (715) 479-6869.

Lake group sets picnic

The North and South Twin Lake Association (NSTLRA)?will hold a family picnic for members and guests at Camp Birch Knoll on South Twin Lake Saturday, Aug. 16, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Food will be provided for a donation to NSTLRA and participants are asked to bring their own beverages.  Gary Baier, camp owner, will give a tour and history.

Fire department pig roast raises money for fire house

Approximately 400 adults and children attended the 58th annual Phelps Firemen’s Picnic and pig roast at Wavering Park Saturday.

Volunteer firefighters Dan Kintz, Tony Campion, Mike Gill, Lucas Gill and Colin Crawford began roasting the pigs — four hogs weighing in at 783 pounds — at midnight the night before the event.

Grmick recognized for 20 years in EMS
DAWN grmick

The National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) recently recognized Dawn Grmick for 20 years of national Emergency Medical Services (EMS) certification.

Grmick has served the community of Phelps by providing care to fellow citizens in their moment of need.

To maintain her nationally registered status,  Grmick  biennially completes a comprehensive recertification program and must attend a minimum of two hours per month of additional continuing-education courses.

She is a volunteer firefighter and currently holds
