Blindfolded snomo event set Jan. 25

The Great Escape Bar and Restaurant in Phelps will sponsor its second annual blindfolded snowmobile race Saturday, Jan. 25.

The race will begin at noon with a driver’s meeting slated for 11 a.m.

To register, call (715) 545-258. Registration costs $20 for each two-person team. Registrations also will be accepted at the door.

The fundraiser event is for the Ken and Peto Buell Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Snomo club fundraiser
Sunrise Lodge employee Jackie Samuelson served breakfast during a recent snowmobile club benefit, which drew an all-time record 188 people. The event raised $785 for the Phelps Snowmobile Club, $600 for the Land O’ Lakes Frosty Club, $140 for the U.P. Thunder Riders, and $275 for the Conover Sno-Buddies. “We all appreciate the hard work the clubs do to keep the snowmobilers coming to our area to enjoy the great trails,” said Sunrise Lodge owner Phil Mendham.	    —Photo By Sharon Gifford

Christmas concert
The Phelps School District music department recently presented its all-school Christmas concert to more than 300 children and adults. Tree lighting
Bradyn Meistad (above) recently visited with Santa at Phelps’ annual tree lighting at Holiday Lodge. The event was sponsored  by various local sponsors and the Phelps Community Development Committee. Santa arrived on a fire engine, taking his seat inside Holiday Lodge to hear Christmas wishes. Each child in attendance at the event received a goodie bag. Breakfast with Santa
The Phelps High School students (above), from left, Caitlin Crawford, Alexis Lucas and Amanda Volkmann were among the sophomore class which recently held its Breakfast with Santa fundraiser. Seventy children and adults attended the event, which included visits with Santa Claus and a meal. A collection for the food pantry was taken and baked items were available to purchase.
