Pickleball players
More than 15 players were in attendance for pickleball play Aug. 27 in Land O’ Lakes. Allan Geiger and several other members from the Eagle River Pickleball Club were present to help players learn the game. Pickleball sessions are held Wednesdays and Fridays at 9 a.m. in the Land O’ Lakes Elementary School gymnasium.The game is suitable for all ages, and usually lasts anywhere from 10 to 25 minutes. Seasonal décor workshop set

Land O’ Lakes Area Artisans (LOLA) will hold a Witchy Woman Seasonal Décor Workshop Saturday, Sept. 20, from 3 to 5 p.m. at LOLA Center for the Arts, located at 4262 Highway B.

Using collage and assemblage techniques, participants will create a jointed witchy woman. All materials will be provided. Cost will be $35 with a registration deadline of Sept. 13.

After the workshop, there will be treats and refreshments.

LOLA musical
The Land O’ Lakes Area Artisan’s junior musical, “The Ever After,” was recently performed at Land O’ Lakes Elementary School. The cast featured children ages 5 through 14. Classes in acting, singing and dancing took place over a four-week period, ending   with the live performance. Under the direction of Jamie Hollenberger, a music teacher from the Milwaukee area, the children performed this musical comedy featuring Disney characters that are now retired and dealing with issues. Insect program
Bart Kotarba from the Northwoods Wildlife Center in Minocqua presented a program on insects native to the North Woods at the Land O’ Lakes Public Library Aug. 20. Headwaters Art League show scheduled to open Aug. 29

Members of Headwaters Art League (HAL) will hold the annual HAL fine art show and sale at the Gateway Lodge in Land O’ Lakes set Friday, Aug. 29, with an artist’s reception to be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Artworks will be displayed through Wednesday, Sept. 3.

A members-only fine art show and sale show will be held Thursday, Aug. 28, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Gateway.

Members are allowed to show three works of art each,

Garden walk set Aug. 29

The Land O’ Lakes Community Garden will sponsor a garden walk Friday, Aug. 29, from 2:30 to 4  p.m. at the garden, located behind the VFW Hall at 4493 Highway B, a few blocks west of downtown Land O’ Lakes.

The garden opened in 2009, has 48 ground plots and 12 raised beds, and is irrigated by an automatic drip system.

Plots are rented for $35 a season

Ride with Leinie
More than 150 riders joined with Wilderness Lakes Trails and Forest Lake Country Store for a day of biking, brats and beer at Ride with Leinie Saturday, Aug. 9, in Land O’ Lakes. The event included several ride options and a traditional Wisconsin brat lunch and tasting of assorted Leinenkugel’s beers. Dick Leinenkugel led one of the rides and discussed his family history of beer making in Wisconsin with the gathered crowd. Two Trek bikes and a Leinenkugel’s beer picnic package were raffled. Museum to offer free events Aug. 22

The Land O’ Lakes Historical Society and the Land O’ Lakes?NorthernWaters Museum will offer  dual free events as part of the Land O’ Lakes Summer Days of Art program Friday, Aug. 22.

There will be demonstration of wildlife carving by local wood artist and taxidermist Rick Bernier of Land O’?Lakes from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Land O’ Lakes NorthernWaters Museum, located in the Land O’ Lakes Town Park on Highway B in Land O’ Lakes.

Family night
Hope Lutheran Church in Land O’ Lakes hosted Family Fun Night Aug. 4. The event featured a picnic, games and a campfire sing-along. Two counselors from Camp Luther of Three Lakes helped with the outdoor portion of the program.
