Boo Bash
The Land O’ Lakes Library held its annual Boo Bash on Halloween night. The event was sponsored and staffed by Friends of the Land O’ Lakes Library. More than 100 children attended the event which included an outdoor blow-up haunted house, games, crafts, snacks, the Haunted Hallway and spooky stories read by Mother Goose. Local Land O’ Lakes and Conover student-volunteers representing Northland Pines High School, Northland Pines Middle School and SOAR charter school also helped with the games and the new Haunted Hallway. Land O’ Lakes business to donate portion of sales to food pantry

Eggleston Custom Cabinets & Home Furnishings in Land O’ Lakes will donate a portion of its sales to the Headwaters Food Pantry in Land O’ Lakes for the month of November.

Five percent of all furniture sales will be donated to the pantry. Donations to the food pantry can be made at Eggleston’s during this time.

“This is a great time to update your home for the holidays and support a great cause,” said an Eggleston spokesperson.

Eggleston Custom Cabinets & Home Furnishings is located at 5791 Highway 45, south of Land O’?Lakes.

Headwaters Food Pantry sets open house

Headwaters Food Pantry in Land O’ Lakes announced it will hold an open house Saturday, Nov. 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Recent?renovations in­clude the installation of a walk-in freezer and new paint and flooring.

“We have been hard at work and have a whole new look. We’re ready to show it off,” said a food pantry representative.

The Headwaters Food Pantry is located at 6516 Olympic 76 St., next to the Dari Maid Drive Inn.

Church slates benefit dinner

The 32nd annual Lutefisk and Swedish Meatball Dinner and Bake Sale will be held Sunday, Dec. 8, at 5 p.m. at Pio­neer Lake Church in Conover.

The menu includes lutefisk with drawn butter or milk gravy, Swedish meatballs in brown gravy, potatoes, green beans amandine, cranberry sauce, beet pickles, lefse, Swedish rye bread, rolls, assorted pies and a beverage.

Seatings and reservations are needed. To make a reservation, call the church office at (715)?479-4966 or Maxine Bickelhaupt at (715) 545-3026.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $6 for youths ages 5-10

Sno-Buddies set meeting Nov. 12

The Conover Sno-Buddies Snowmobile Club will hold its monthly meeting Tuesday, Nov, 12, at Dublin Sports Bar & Grill in Conover.

Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. with the meeting following the meal. Reser­vations should be made by Nov. 9, by calling (715) 479-7929.

The cost for dinner is $8. All interested snowmobilers are welcome to attend.

The snowmobile club is currently selling raffle tickets to raise funds for trail maintenance. Tickets are available at local Conover businesses. First prize is $3,000.

Lions Club holds fish fry

The Conover Lions Club held its Ladies Night and the annual Bud Reed Fish Fry event at Conover Town Park.

John “Bud” Reed was a founding member of the Conover Lions Club with 58 years of service when he died in 2008.

A tradition began over many years where Reed would provide fish he caught on Canadian fishing trips to host a Lions Club fish fry. This event would coincide with the final summer meetings held at the park.

Water laterals policy listed

The Land O’ Lakes Sanitary District announced that   during the winter months frozen laterals have occurred from the curb stop to some  residences or businesses.

The district will make every attempt to assure that customers have an adequate water supply at all times; however, laterals from the curb stop to the residences or businesses are the responsibility of the owners, said a district official.
