Grand Event
 Land O’ Lakes Elementary School recently held its annual Grand Event in conjunction with the Scholastic Book Fair. Students had an opportunity to spend recess and lunch time with their grandparents or anyone  else they think is grand. Students and guests also spent time together shopping for books. Santa Weekend slated Nov. 29-30

The Land O’ Lakes Chamber of Commerce announced that Santa?Weekend will be held Friday, Nov. 29 through Saturday Nov. 30, throughout Land O’?Lakes.

Friday, Nov. 29, Santa will  visit the library between      11 a.m. and noon for some Christmas family activities.

A Santa meet and greet and horse-drawn wagon rides with Santa are scheduled at  the Land O’ Lakes Airport at 1 p.m. The wagon rides destination is the Santa Village, located on Highway B across from the library.

Planning, beautification panel holds season wrap-up meeting

The Land O’ Lakes Planning and Beautification Committee held its season wrap-up meeting Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 10 a.m. at the Land O’ Lakes Town Hall.

The committee is responsible for planning and implementing visual enhancements for town-owned properties.

The committee also advocates the improvement of appearances of private properties in the “hamlet” area, and is a vocal supporter for local environmental health and safety.

Tailgate party to benefit Relay

T & M Lanes of Land O’ Lakes will host a tailgate party to benefit Relay For Life Sunday, Nov. 24, during the Packers versus the Minnesota Vikings football game.

The event will begin at 11 a.m. and will include food, beverages, door prizes and raffles.

Grand prizes include a 2012 Packers team autographed football, two nights stay at Lac Vieux Desert Resort Casino with a gaming package, a Relay For Life handcrafted bird feeder and a Smoky Joe tailgate package.

Cookie exchange set at Club 45 Dec. 7

There will be a Conover Cookie Exchange at Club 45 Sports Bar and Grill, Saturday, Dec. 7, at 1 p.m.

The event will feature  a public bake sale and a Conover Cookie of the Year judging contest.

Proceeds will benefit community events via the Conover Chamber of Commerce.

Posters and sign-up sheets are located at many of the downtown Conover businesses. Deadline for sign-up is Nov. 21.

Blood drive set Nov. 19

The Land O’ Lakes Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary will sponsor a Northwoods Community Blood Center Fill The Pantry blood drive Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the fire barn located at 4773 Highway B in Land O’ Lakes.

Donors who take an item of food for the food pantry can enter a drawing to win a $100 grocery gift card. Food items should be nonperishable, unopened and not in glass containers. Official rules can be found at communityblood.org.

Boo Bash
The Land O’ Lakes Library held its annual Boo Bash on Halloween night. The event was sponsored and staffed by Friends of the Land O’ Lakes Library. More than 100 children attended the event which included an outdoor blow-up haunted house, games, crafts, snacks, the Haunted Hallway and spooky stories read by Mother Goose. Local Land O’ Lakes and Conover student-volunteers representing Northland Pines High School, Northland Pines Middle School and SOAR charter school also helped with the games and the new Haunted Hallway. Land O’ Lakes business to donate portion of sales to food pantry

Eggleston Custom Cabinets & Home Furnishings in Land O’ Lakes will donate a portion of its sales to the Headwaters Food Pantry in Land O’ Lakes for the month of November.

Five percent of all furniture sales will be donated to the pantry. Donations to the food pantry can be made at Eggleston’s during this time.

“This is a great time to update your home for the holidays and support a great cause,” said an Eggleston spokesperson.

Eggleston Custom Cabinets & Home Furnishings is located at 5791 Highway 45, south of Land O’?Lakes.

Headwaters Food Pantry sets open house

Headwaters Food Pantry in Land O’ Lakes announced it will hold an open house Saturday, Nov. 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Recent?renovations in­clude the installation of a walk-in freezer and new paint and flooring.

“We have been hard at work and have a whole new look. We’re ready to show it off,” said a food pantry representative.

The Headwaters Food Pantry is located at 6516 Olympic 76 St., next to the Dari Maid Drive Inn.
