Church slates benefit dinner

The 32nd annual Lutefisk and Swedish Meatball Dinner and Bake Sale will be held Sunday, Dec. 8, at 5 p.m. at Pio­neer Lake Church in Conover.

The menu includes lutefisk with drawn butter or milk gravy, Swedish meatballs in brown gravy, potatoes, green beans amandine, cranberry sauce, beet pickles, lefse, Swedish rye bread, rolls, assorted pies and a beverage.

Seatings and reservations are needed. To make a reservation, call the church office at (715)?479-4966 or Maxine Bickelhaupt at (715) 545-3026.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $6 for youths ages 5-10

Sno-Buddies set meeting Nov. 12

The Conover Sno-Buddies Snowmobile Club will hold its monthly meeting Tuesday, Nov, 12, at Dublin Sports Bar & Grill in Conover.

Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. with the meeting following the meal. Reser­vations should be made by Nov. 9, by calling (715) 479-7929.

The cost for dinner is $8. All interested snowmobilers are welcome to attend.

The snowmobile club is currently selling raffle tickets to raise funds for trail maintenance. Tickets are available at local Conover businesses. First prize is $3,000.

110th anniversary

Lions Club holds fish fry

The Conover Lions Club held its Ladies Night and the annual Bud Reed Fish Fry event at Conover Town Park.

John “Bud” Reed was a founding member of the Conover Lions Club with 58 years of service when he died in 2008.

A tradition began over many years where Reed would provide fish he caught on Canadian fishing trips to host a Lions Club fish fry. This event would coincide with the final summer meetings held at the park.

Water laterals policy listed

The Land O’ Lakes Sanitary District announced that   during the winter months frozen laterals have occurred from the curb stop to some  residences or businesses.

The district will make every attempt to assure that customers have an adequate water supply at all times; however, laterals from the curb stop to the residences or businesses are the responsibility of the owners, said a district official.

LOLA art resource center contains books and DVDs

Land O’ Lakes Area Artisans Inc. (LOLA) announced that those seeking artist pursuits should check out LOLA’s class offerings or visit the art resource center.

The Shirley Battin Resource Center, located in the LOLA office, is a repository of how-to books about crafts, painting and drawing. Design books for landscapes, fashion, theater and photography are also available.

DVDs including “The Great Courses Series” on art history are also available. All books and DVDs are available for self check-out for a period of two weeks. The LOLA office accepts artbook donations.

Kids Halloween Party scheduled Oct. 31

The Conover Lions Club announced it will host its annual Kids Halloween Party Thursday, Oct. 31, at the Conover Community Center, located at 4665 Highway K E.

The activities will start at 6 p.m. with games, prizes and candy. Food will be available and prizes will be awarded for the best costume in each age group.

Blood drive slated Oct. 23

A community blood drive will be held at the Conserve School, located at 5400 N. Black Oak Lake Road in Land O’ Lakes, Wednesday, Oct. 23, from 1 to 5 p.m.Walk-in donors are welcome.

“We provide 100% of the blood products used by Eagle River Memorial Hospital and couldn’t do it without volunteers like you,” said Julie Pichler, donor resources, Community Blood Center.

Library sets Boo?Bash

The Land O’ Lakes Public Library announced it will host its seventh annual Boo Bash Thursday, Oct. 31, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the library.

The event, sponsored by Friends of the Land O’ Lakes Public Library, will feature games, snacks, crafts, tricks and treats.

A relaxation area with coffee will also be available.
