Conover-Land O' Lakes
Family bingo slated June 19

The Land O’ Lakes Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring family bingo again this summer on Wednesday eve­nings at St. Albert’s Catholic Church hall.

The first bingo night will be June 19 and will continue throughout the summer until August 21. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and games will begin at 7 p.m.

There will be twelve regular games

Evangelical Church to host Koinonia Singers June 28
Conover Evangelical Free Church announced that it will host the Koinonia Singers, shown above, for a free concert and dinner Friday, June 28, at the church, located at 3725 Highway 45 in Conover.                                         —Contributed Photo

Conover Evangelical Free Church has announced that it will host the Koinonia Singers for a free concert and dinner Friday, June 28, at the church, located at 3725 Highway 45 in Conover.

The dinner is at 6 p.m. followed by the concert at 7 p.m.

“The Koinonia Singers are a lively group of 25 to 30 high-school students sharing their testimony of Jesus’ love through contemporary Christian songs, skits and fellowship,” said a church spokes­person.

Chamber plans Taste of Conover

The Conover Chamber of Commerce will host the seventh annual Taste of Conover Sunday, June 30, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Conover Park Pavilion located on Highway K East.

Attendees will be able to sample food items for breakfast, lunch, dinner and desserts from 15 area businesses.

Each vendor will have food items

Students volunteer at community garden

Ten Conserve School students recently joined 20 adult volunteers to help cleanup and repair the Land O’ Lakes Community Garden for its fifth season.

Students weeded, unpacked garden furniture from the storage building, laid new barrier cloth on common areas and walkways and helped prepare drip lines for another summer of use.

LOLA announces events, classes

Land O’ Lakes Area Artisans (LOLA) recently announced the upcoming events and classes of its 100 Days of Art series. The upcoming events and classes are:

•?Line Dancing continues every Tuesday morning at St. Albert’s Catholic Church on Highway B with a Beginners class at 9:45 a.m., and a High Beginners class at 11 a.m. No registration is needed. Cost is $4 for one class or $6 for both.

•?Painting With Frosting: The Art of Cake Decorating will be presented by baker Linda Charbarneau Wednesday, June 19, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Pine Cone Café. Charbarneau will demonstrate the art of cake decoration. Participants will decorate cakes and sample the results.

Students reach box-top goal

The students at Northland Pines Elementary School-Land O’ Lakes recently celebrated achieving their Box Tops for Education collection goal with a root beer float party.

After meeting the first challenge of 6500 box tops in January, coordinator and kindergarten teacher Cathy Benecke challenged them to collect another 2500 before the end of the year with the reward

Story contest
Students at Northland Pines Elementary School-Land O’ Lakes participated in the Delta Kappa Gamma story contest during the past school year. Each student published a story and had it judged. Land O' Lakes Chamber of Commerce held its summer launch Memorial Day weekend. 
On Saturday vendors were lined up on both sides of Hwy B.  The local businesses held sales for the patrons, and an outside movie was held. 
On Sunday, the chamber held a program called “A Taste of Town” that featured food samples from area businesses. Food samples included  homemade cream puffs, chocolate chip cookies and a slivered almond dessert from Sunrise Lodge and free coffee samples from The Buzz on B.

VFW donation PDF Print E-mail
The Land O’ Lakes Public Library recently received a $400 donation from VFW Post 8400. The donation was used to purchase large-print books. “This is a growing need for our patrons and we are very pleased to be able to increase our large-print collection,” stated Julie Zelten, director.
