Kids Halloween Party scheduled Oct. 31

The Conover Lions Club announced it will host its annual Kids Halloween Party Thursday, Oct. 31, at the Conover Community Center, located at 4665 Highway K E.

The activities will start at 6 p.m. with games, prizes and candy. Food will be available and prizes will be awarded for the best costume in each age group.

Blood drive slated Oct. 23

A community blood drive will be held at the Conserve School, located at 5400 N. Black Oak Lake Road in Land O’ Lakes, Wednesday, Oct. 23, from 1 to 5 p.m.Walk-in donors are welcome.

“We provide 100% of the blood products used by Eagle River Memorial Hospital and couldn’t do it without volunteers like you,” said Julie Pichler, donor resources, Community Blood Center.

Library sets Boo?Bash

The Land O’ Lakes Public Library announced it will host its seventh annual Boo Bash Thursday, Oct. 31, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the library.

The event, sponsored by Friends of the Land O’ Lakes Public Library, will feature games, snacks, crafts, tricks and treats.

A relaxation area with coffee will also be available.

Church to host Hymn Fest

Hope Lutheran Church of Land O’ Lakes announced it will host Hymn Fest Sunday, Oct. 27, at 1 p.m.

Guest organist will be Dr. Jeffrey Burkart of Concordia University, St. Paul, Minn.

Art show

LOLA’s 100 Days of Art grand finale party set

Land O’ Lakes Area Artisans Inc. (LOLA), a nonprofit arts organization, announced its 100 Days of Art grand finale party will be held Thursday, Oct. 31, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the LOLA Center for the Arts, located at 4262 Highway B in Land O’ Lakes.

The event celebrates the conclusion of its 100 Days of Art program and will feature food, music by local musicians Jennifer Anderson and Mark Hovel, Halloween treats for children and the drawing for LOLA’s action raffle that was on-going this summer.

The final drawing includes a Hobie kayak, Fuji mountain bike and a Canon camera.

Colorama winners announced
The Headwaters Food Pantry won first prize in the Colorama scarecrow decorating competition with a shake, rattle and roll scarecrow featuring chrysanthemums for hair.            —Contributed Photos

The Land O’ Lakes Chamber of Commerce announced the winners of the Land O’ Lakes Colorama 2013 scarecrow and autumn decorating contest.

Winner in the scarecrow division was Headwaters Food Pantry with its lady scarecrow with bouffant hair made out of  mums flowers depicting the shake, rattle and roll era.

Haack wins kayak from memorial race

Jean Haack of Land O’ Lakes  was the recipient of a new kayak, a Current Designs Breeze, valued at $1,000 from Jeff and Marcia Rohr of  Conover.

Haack bought her ticket in Madison in March at Canoecopia when she visited the Callie Rohr Memorial Canoe and Kayak Race booth.
