Conserve sets blood drive

Conserve School located at 5400 N. Black Oak Lake Road in Land O’ Lakes, will host a blood drive Wednesday, April 10, from 1 to 5 p.m.

Blood donors must be at least 17 years old or 16 with parental permission, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health, and have photo identification. Donors are requested to eat a regular meal and drink plenty of fluids prior to donating.

Garden plots now available PDF Print E-mail

The Land O’ Lakes Community Garden still has plots available for 2013.

In-ground plots measure 8 feet by 16 feet and raised beds are 2.5 feet by 12 feet. Both are equipped with automatic drip lines and rent for $35 for the season.

Rhode, Champeny face off in election for Conover chair

Incumbent Steve Rhode and challenger Edward Champeny will face off in an election for Conover chairman next Tuesday, April 2.

Polls will be open at the Conover Town Hall from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Supervisor 1 George Champeny, Supervisor 2 Karl Jennrich and Clerk/Treasurer James Hedberg will run unopposed.

Following is a brief biographical sketch of the two town chairman candidates for Conover, along with a statement from each about why they’re running.

Samp challenging Balog in town chairman’s race

Land O’ Lakes will have an election for town chairman next Tuesday, April, 2, as incumbent Daniel Balog is being challenged by Jon Samp.

Incumbent Clerk/Treasurer Lynn Bybee and incumbent supervisors Samuel Otterpohl and Michael Stopczynski will run unopposed.

Balog was contacted to complete a candidate background sheet, but did not return the form to the newspaper.

LOLA accepting entries for fiber art exhibition

 

Threads Through Time II, a fiber art display, will be presented at Ely Memorial Church in Land O’ Lakes Saturday, Sept. 21.

Fiber artists are welcome to exhibit their creations. Possible items to exhibit include old and new quilts; hooked, braided, or penny rugs; woven, crocheted or knitted items; and other fiber creations.

There will be a public informational meeting at the Land O’ Lakes Town Hall Tuesday, April 9, at 6 p.m. regarding the possibility of a room tax to be charged by town of Land O’ Lakes area lodging facilities.

This meeting is an opportunity to explore the pros and cons, answer questions, and share information with everyone. This meeting is open to the public and everyone is welcome.

Town to hold Easter event PDF Print E-mail

Land O’ Lakes welcomes all local and visiting children to its 2013 Easter celebration Saturday, March 30, at 10 a.m., with an egg hunt at 10:30 a.m. at the Land O’ Lakes Elementary School.

Sponsored by Land O’ Lakes Parks and Recreation and the Land O’ Lakes Library, the egg hunt will be held outdoors. Included in the event will be crafts, games and a visit from the Easter bunny.

Nicolet to hold workshop

Nicolet College will hold a workforce and economic development workshop called Explore Starting a Business at the Land O’ Lakes Chamber of Commerce building Wednesday, March 20 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
