Wildfire preparedness
Members of the Conover Fire Department recently completed Home Ignition Zone assessment training from the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). This training enables firefighters to conduct inspections for homeowners to help lessen the risk of damage to their homes during a wildfire. During the training session, Jamie Remme (far left), a forester/ranger with the Wisconsin DNR, presented a plaque to the family of Keith Posto, including, from left, Virginia Posto, Gerry Posto and Leonard Posto. Posto, who passed away in 2012, was recognized for his 19 years of service as a fire-detection spotter at the Monahan Fire Tower in Conover. For more information about the Home Ignition Zone program and protecting homes from wildfires, call Remme at (715) 479-4771. —Photo By Janet Garling
