Land O’ Lakes Area Artisans Inc. (LOLA) recently announced that three local artists, Jerry Urban, Terry Simeone, and Rita Kickert, will display their work in photography, quilt art and pottery Thursday through Saturday Sept. 19-21 at the Land O’ Lakes Chamber of Commerce located at highways 45 and B.

Hours of exhibit will be Thursday and Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to noon.

An artist reception will be held Thursday, Sept. 19, from 4 to 6 p.m.

Each is an emerging artist, pursuing their earlier artistic passions.

Photographer?Jerry Urban of Conover has rekindled his love of photography.

Early in his career he received a degree in photography and worked as a photographer in the Milwaukee area.

It was while taking a plane ride to do some aerial photos that Urban thought flying was fascinating. This led to a 40-year career in flying.

After retiring, raising lilies became a hobby which led him back to the camera.

He is in the garden throughout the day to take advantage of natural light and is always searching for the perfect flower.

Friends and family became interested in the work and soon Urban was selling them in retail outlets.

His first showing was in Eagle River at the Olson Memorial Library as Artist of the Month in August.

Quilt artist Terry Simeone of Land O’ Lakes explored many art forms while raising her family and teaching home-schooled students.

In more recent years, she has focused on the art of quilting.
