Club donation
The Conover Lions Club recently presented the Conover Sno-Buddies Snowmobile Club with a $1,000 donation.  Representatives at the check presentation were, from left,  Maynard Bedish, Conover Lions Club treasurer; Jim Pipp, vice president of the Conover Sno-Buddies and Lions Club director; and Bob Payseur, Conover Sno-Buddies president. Upcoming events for the Sno-Buddies include the Jim Scott Scholarship Trail Lunch Saturday, Jan. 18, at Mapleview Resort in Conover from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the Chili Cook-Off at Club 45 in Conover Saturday, Feb. 1. Beast Feast set Jan. 25

All men are welcome to attend the Beast Feast at Conover Evangelical Free Church Saturday, Jan. 25, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. for a night of food and fellowship.

“Bring one of your best meat dishes for a chance to win a Beast Feast award, and to share with the rest of the men,” said a church representative.

The event will also feature tables set up to play euchre and cribbage.

Winter Frolic planned Feb. 9

The Conover Lions Club will hold its 55th annual Winter Frolic Sunday, Feb. 9, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Conover Town Park, located at 4665 Highway K East.

The event will include downhill sledding,  and toboggan,  saucer and snowboard races with prizes in each age category. Participants need to take their own sledding equipment.

Clothing donation
The 10th-grade confirmation class at St. Albert’s Church in Land O’ Lakes partnered with Frederick Place in Rhinelander and collected 103 pairs of socks for men, women and children in need. Above, organizers of the collection promoted the event. 	      —Contributed Photo

Santa visit
Students at Land O’ Lakes Elementary School had a visit from Santa the week before their holiday break. As Santa visited with each classroom, he handed out a gift bag to each student provided by the Conover/Land O’ Lakes Elementary Parent Teacher Association (PTA), Conover Lions Club and The Tackle Box in Land O’ Lakes. The PTA also provided the students with a movie and popcorn afternoon on the last day before break.
