Lions donation
Terry Uhlenbrauck and Lisa Myszka recently presented the Conover Lions Club with a check for $500 in memory of Marvin Peterson, a former Conover resident and local fishing guide. Uhlenbrauck and Peterson were fishing partners for 13 years prior to Peterson’s death in August 2013. The donation will be put toward maintenance of Lake Itsy Bitsy, which is the site of the club’s annual Take a Kid Fishing event to be held Sunday, June 15. The Lions Club decided to rename the fishing contest’s prize-winning trout — formerly known as Walter — Marvin in honor of Peterson. Uhlenbrauck also will donate a rod and reel to the child who catches Marvin at this year’s contest. On hand for the check presentation were, from left, Jim Pipp, Lions Club President Roger Flaherty, Uhlenbrauck and Len Johnson. —Photo By Janet Garling
