Property values increase after five-year drop: report

Vilas climbs 2%,
Oneida up 1%

North Woods property values increased for the first time in six years in Vilas and Oneida counties, with state officials reporting that the  the residential real estate market is showing signs of sustained growth.

Figures based on actual sales in 2013 show property values increased 2% in Vilas and 1% in Oneida, a sign that the real estate market is bouncing back from recessionary times. The report from the Wisconsin Department of Revenue (DOR) showed the statewide average increase was 2.6% as compared to a 1% decline last year.

The property tax base in Forest County increased 4%.
