Auxiliary donates $50,000 to Howard Young Foundation

The Partners — Auxiliary, Ministry Eagle River Memorial Hospital, through its fundraising efforts, donated $50,000 to the Howard Young Foundation Special Gift Initiative June 17.

The donation will benefit health- and wellness related services at Ministry Eagle River Memorial Hospital (MERMH).

Cranberry association to hold annual meeting

Cranberry Lake Association will hold its annual meeting Saturday, Aug. 2, at 9 a.m. at the Lincoln Town Hall, located at 1205 Sundstein Road in Eagle River.

A presentation by Department of Natural Resources (DNR) fisheries biologist Marty Kiepke will highlight the results of the Eagle River Chain fish survey completed this year, with emphasis on Cranberry Lake.

Vilas may change forest plan to allow ATV trails in county

The Vilas County Board will consider a resolution to amend the 15-year Vilas County Forest Comprehensive Land Use Plan to allow all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) on some public roadways and designated trails on the county forest at its meeting next Tuesday, July 22.

Supporters of the proposal believe developing ATV trails in Vilas County would boost the tourism industry and help local businesses, while opponents say the county is one

Sno-Eagles kick off groomer fundraiser

The Sno-Eagles Snowmobile Club in Eagle River has kicked off a $50,000 fundraising campaign to help the snowmobile trail maintenance organization generate funds for a new groomer.

The club currently owns three groomers — a 2004 McCormick tractor, a 2004 Bombardier BR180 tracked groomer and a 2009 Prinoth Husky tracked groomer — and all three required major repairs during the 2013-’14  winter season that saw above-average snowfalls,

Three Lakes Lions plan annual auction

The Three Lakes Lions Club will hold its annual auction this Saturday, July 19, at Three Lakes High School. This year, there will be a rummage sale prior to the auction at 9 a.m., and the auction will begin at noon.
