Electricity customers to get refund from WPS

The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin authorized Wisconsin Public Service Corp. (WPS) last week to refund $8.1 million to Wisconsin electric retail customers for an over-recovery of fuel and purchased power costs.

The refund to each customer will be based on actual use over the month of August, and will amount to about $5.32 for the typical residential customer using 600 kilowatt-hours of electricity monthly.

Customers will see portions of the refund on August and September 2014 bills.

Oneida seeks feedback on board meeting times

The Oneida County UW-Extension is conducting a survey to assess public opinion as to when the Oneida County Board should hold its public meetings.

The survey is web based, and may be found online at Paper copies of the survey will be available at public libraries in Rhinelander, Three Lakes and Minocqua, and at the UW-Extension office in the basement of the Rhine­land­er-Oneida County Airport.

The Oneida County Board of Supervisors discussed the issue of holding their meetings at night during the May 20 meeting of the board.

County board meetings are currently held at 9:30 a.m.

Discover Mediaworks, Trig’s expand 30-year partnership

Discover Mediaworks has announced it will manage marketing, advertising and video production on behalf of five Trig’s grocery stores in northern Wisconsin, along with Trig’s Smokehouse.

This step extends a professional partnership between the two northern Wisconsin-based businesses that has lasted almost 30 years.

The partnership began in 1986, when Trygve “Trig” Solberg, founder of Trig’s grocery store, became the first private sector contributor in the program Discover Wisconsin, created by Dick Rose of Eagle River.

Chain Association sets annual meeting

The Eagle River Chain of Lakes Association (ERCLA) will hold its annual general meeting at Saturday, July 19, at 9 a.m. at the Lincoln Town Hall located at 1205 Sundstein Road in Eagle River.

The keynote speaker will be Steve Gilbert, Wisconsin Department of Natural Re­sources (DNR) fisheries biologist. He will present the results of the yearlong fish survey completed on the Eagle River Chain of Lakes in March.

Shortly after ice-out in spring of 2013 the DNR began a fish survey on all lakes of the Eagle River Chain, which included netting, shocking and a creel survey. The survey continued throughout the year and terminated with the end of gamefish season this spring.
