Dorothy Carberry Freund

Dorothy Carberry Freund, 95, passed into heaven Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, 2014, in Iron River, Mich. A Memorial Mass was Friday, Feb. 21, at St. Peter the Fisherman Parish in Eagle River, Wis., with burial at a later date. She was born Sept. 16, 1918, in Richland Center, Wis., to Joseph and Margaret Smyth Benton Carberry and raised in Madison, Wis., where she attended Blessed Sacrament Grade School and Edgewood High School.

Walter Spiess

Walter Spiess, a lifelong resident of Eagle River, died Feb. 17, 2014. He was 92.
Mr. Spiess was born Jan. 13, 1922, to John and Anna (née Wiebe) Spiess in Eagle River, where he was raised and attended schools.
He served in U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific, and married his wife, Shirley, Sept. 30, 1950, in Lombard, Ill. They owned and operated Florcraft in Eagle River from 1954 to 1986.
He was an active member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church

Brian F. Ayers

Brian F. Ayers, age 56, of Eagle River, Wis., went to his Eternal Home on Feb. 11, 2014.

Brian was born on Dec. 20, 1957, in Eagle River. He was the son of Forrest and Mary (née Hebert) Ayers.

Brian worked construction for many years in Wyoming before returning to Eagle River. He had been the groundskeeper at Pine Glo Motel for the last six years.

Brian had a great love for the outdoors. He also loved hunting and fishing. He had a tender spot for all God’s creatures.

Konrad H. Doepke

The soul of Konrad H. Doepke, 80, of Conover, Wis., passed into eternal life in Heaven on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014.

Husband, father, Opa, uncle, friend, mentor — Konrad will be mourned by his wife of 56 years, Arlene, and their three sons, Brian (Melissa) of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Darrell (Lori) of Glendale, Ariz., and Joel of Pulaski, Wis.
