Richard A. Nixon

Richard A. Nixon of Eagle River, Wis., passed away from multiple health-related issues, Monday, June 2, 2014, at Ministry Eagle River Memorial Hospital. He was 76.

Richard was born Dec. 19, 1937, in Rhinelander, Wis., to William and Patricia (née Dobosenski) Nixon.

He attended St. Mary’s Elementary School and graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1956.

Ace Roxbury, 76, entered his eternal home in heaven on May 25, 2014, while living in New Port Richey, Fla.

He lived the majority of his life in Eagle River, Wis., and was a member of Christ Evan­gelical Lutheran Church.

Norman Smith

Norman Smith of Eagle River died Monday, May 26, 2014, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King. He was 82.

Mr. Smith was born Aug. 5, 1931, in Hartford, Conn., the son of John Norman and Dorothy Smith.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War following his graduation from Queen Elizabeth High School in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Debra ‘Debbi’ Stevens

Debra “Debbi” Stevens, a longtime resident of Eagle River, died Thursday, May 29, 2014, in Rochester, Minn. She was 60.

Mrs. Stevens was born Aug. 29, 1953, in West Bend, to Milton and Helen Kertscher.

Her interests included travelling, reading, attending sporting events, and supporting her children and grandchildren.

Jo Ann C. Birkeness

Jo Ann C. Birkeness of Eagle River died Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Friendly Village Nursing Home in Rhinelander. She was 83.

Mrs. Birkeness was born March 24, 1931, in Green Bay, the daughter of Fred and Agnes (née Rasmussen) Krenzien. She was raised and attended schools in Green Bay.

She was married to David Birkeness and together they owned and operated the Mud Creek Saloon in Eagle River. She also was employed as a dietitian at the Eagle River Nursing Home.
