Sayner woman pleads no contest
to nine counts of animal abuse

A 48-year-old Sayner woman facing 27 counts of animal abuse avoided a jury trial and pleaded no contest to nine counts, with all others dismissed, in Vilas County Circuit Court last week.

Lauri A. Schilling was charged last April with nine counts of intentionally failing to provide food for animals, nine counts of unsanitary conditions and nine counts of intentionally abandoning animals, all Class A misdemeanors. Her estranged husband, Ronnie R. Schilling, 47, also faced the same number and types of charges.

Man, who will be witness in trial,
has own sentencing hearing delayed

One of three persons taken into custody in connection with maintaining a marijuana growing operation north of Eagle River and another in Arbor Vitae had his sentencing delayed until March of 2014 in Vilas County Circuit Court last week.

Ramon Pineiro, 36, of Goldbar, arrested in a raid at 1399 South Farming Road in Arbor Vitae in April 2011, entered pleas last April to one count of possession of marijuana and two counts of criminal damage to property. Two counts of maintaining a drug trafficking place

Conover man pleads not guilty
to theft from VFW building

An 18-year-old Conover man, who allegedly broke into the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) building in Land O’ Lakes and a residence in the town of Washington, pleaded not guilty to burglary and theft charges in Vilas

County Circuit Court last week.

Gryphyn Taylor Connolly is charged with burglary of a building or dwelling, misdemeanor theft, burglary-armed with a dangerous weapons, felony bail jumping and misdemeanor bail jumping. All charges are party to a crime with three other individuals.
